I'm also curious how he is able to get 0 percent. Definitely not through Toyota.

IMO I would just stay with the 2nd Gen untill the 3rd Gen ages a couple of years. I think 2017-2020 Years are going to be awesome! But then again I Love The 2nd Generations compared to the new look of the 3rd Generations. I dont like how Current year trucks are starting to All look the same with the boxy style and huge up front grilles

He created 5k equaty dy making payments for his truck in 2 years. If he pays 3 more years and pay off completely, then he can trade in "paid of truck" for about 15k and finance 16k on 2019 Tacoma with 5year loan for about 350$ month.

It's probably 0.9. For 60 months As a promotion through Toyota. No way anyone is giving a auto loan at a full 0%

Good point. He was not shopping, but was called by the dealer.
Did not consider classic bait & switch.

If it's 0% he should definitely be taking that deal. That's a fair bit of interest he'd be saving along with lowering his payments!

I shopped around for used trucks, honestly, he could probably sell it for more than what the dealer is willing to do the trade for.

I have concluded the dealer tactic is a bait and switch, as suggested by others in this thread.
I bet he goes in, and then gets convinced to lease a 2016 or something, or those quoted numbers aren't held.

Otherwise, this math makes no sense.
How can the dealer sell him a brand new truck for only $6k more than his used trade-in ?
