Still too much in my opinion. Look at the product they are selling vs what I built a year ago. $225 vs $63. The only visual difference I see is the camera bracket and the plastic wire loom, ha.

Finding a 6v camera is the key.

if someone wants me to sell just the wire adapter for a specific 6v camera, I could likely try to add that to my store. I tend to focus on 12v cameras myself and run independent wire. But I get the benefits of using OEM wiring.

Agreed, I'll study your way when I get there. I'm too cheap to pay $225 for something I can do myself... but sometimes I'm tired of the learning curve.

Not hard at all. I think once I had all the parts, it took maybe an hour to wire up and test.

Does anyone have a diagram on how to do this? Shaggy 135s description doesn’t work on mine, I have the Natika camera, and purchased one of those four pin plugs. My camera video cable has a shield (video neg), yellow(video+) and red trigger wire coming out of the video plug and the standard red (+) and black (-) wire for the power, so I’m wondering how to hook these up to the 4-pin? On the four pin, gray is 1, 2 is black, 3 is yellow and 4 is blue. As shown below:image.jpg image.jpg

I would rather make it myself, because I am going to eventually put in a hardwired camera for my trailer to it as well.
    Thanks guys!

No worries. I just helped someone else with this a couple weeks ago. Cut off the yellow video plug and trigger wire and then strip that cable. Should be two wires inside that housing.

    (1) Top left on the camera side of the plug goes to the red wire in the housing
    (2) top right goes to the other wire inside the housing

bottom two will be the power and the ground. It'll be easier to just put a volt meter on it though.

    (4) my bottom right wire is power
    (3) bottom left is the ground

the wire with power will go to your solid red wire (V+)
last wire will go to the black with red striped wire (V-)

I'm borrowing mnguyenpdx's pic. Looks like the manufacturer of that plug changed the wire colors. This is what it should look like when done IF using that new plug:

Awesome! Thank you so much, it’s so funny I used to do video work too, but the issue was really getting me where we had no diagrams, but you came through. Appreciate it, I owe you one!

Anyone know what type of female connector that is on the truck end? I want to put a female panel mount connector on my truck near the license plate so I can easily swap the swingout camera to my trailer camera and forget about climbing under the truck to get to the connector behind the bumper!

Hey Blueberry.Taco I got the camera and connector in the mail. How did you wire it up? Did you cut off only the RCA plug, or did you cut it off on the other side of the weird connector that comes with the camera?

Cut off only the RCA connector and strip back that cable insulation to expose about 3-4 inches of the red and the yellow wire by cutting off the bare shielding wire and foil away from it. You will only need to use the yellow and red wire, and the other red and black wires to do your camera set up.

Okay. The cable to the RCA had a red wire and a yellow wire in in. The red wire is video + and the yellow is a shield/video -? And the other red and black wires are +12V and GND? Looks like:

Vid + to 8 pin plug pin 3
Vid - to 8 pin plug pin 2
    +12V to 8 pin plug pin 6
GND to 8 pin plug pin 5

    Is this correct?

I'm not having any luck. Can anyone with an 8 pin wiring harness confirm that:

Vid + to 8 pin plug pin 3
Vid - to 8 pin plug pin 2
    +12V to 8 pin plug pin 6
GND to 8 pin plug pin 5

And 12V is already on pin 6/no need to grab it from somewhere else?
