How can I clean my engine compartment?

Simple green and a garden hose works good. Spray it on and let it sit for awhile and hose it off.

 

I just tried out GUNK heavy duty cleaner and GUNK shine. Spray on, wait 15-20 minutes and rinse off. Real easy. Then spray on the shine and wipe off.

 

I use a pressure washer when needed. I don't cover any electrical components, but use common sense around them. Spray off all the loose mud, dirt, oil clumps etc. before applying degreaser, otherwise it will have to fight its way through all the gunk to get to the engine where you want it. Then use it on the little bit of stubborn oils that are left after the initial rinse.

 

Hey thanks for uploading the before and after pix... I was going to have everything steam-cleaned but I think I'll do what you did with the Gunk. Not sure about the Gunk Shine though, I'd think it would make the dust and dirt more difficult to remove the next time. But what do I know...
