Here’s a suggestion: don’t do anything that would make the feds need to watch you.

I’m really starting to suspect this is either a full-blown Friday thread in the making, or we’re gonna be on the news telling the reporter “it was such a quiet thread, never bothered no one...”

No, but it definitely reinforces the need to buy them.

Yes I am very very familiar with what can be tracked with my cell phone when I carry it and how that is done. That said, I do not wish to open the door to another private company to track my whereabouts if possible. It's a simple concern that if there is a simple solution I'd disable it.

I don't see whats the big deal about not wanting to share my personal data with Toyota. I bought a truck not a big brother. I am also aware of the EDR but that's not trackable in real time and I can't remove that.

If you’re going to do a crime bring your own chicken nuggets, and for the love of god don’t talk about said nuggets.

2001s did not have EDR capability. Some manufacturers go back further than 05, but that’s about when it became standard

Y'all are going in entirely the wrong direction.

I chose to opt into every single tracker device and software I can.

Let both the government and Amazon puzzle out why every Tuesday night I buy eight jars of mayonnaise, a liter of oxalic acid, a box of baby aspirin, a box of matches, and a wedding planner magazine.

It’s a lost cause my man; read my previous post. This is the norm and you’ll be labelled the crazy person for trying to reign in what you have the power to control.
There’s a few people in this thread who’ve already proven that we’re too far gone on this topic.

Agreed. I was talking about our 2001 Saab and Volvo. :D Shoulda bought a 1998 1st Gen. Probably would still have it and not have wanted money on about three other vehicles.

The Saab had the worthless OnStar BS and I think I got a smartphone around 2008? It has been a more relaxing 12yrs not really caring about it all.

    Pretty crazy, huh?

It’s totally the ‘I’m not doing anything nefarious at midnight’ Iroc. Nope, nothing nefarious at all, just rumbling along, minding my own business.

I love those Irocs, it’s like my guilty pleasure car

Its no big deal unless you're in the bush offroading and you snap a cv cause your using crawl control but then you try and say you were in the mall parking lot stuck in snow. Toyota can check where you broke stuff, gps location, etc.
