At least it's an option, and one I've employed involuntarily many times.

I don't really care about government tracking, it's the free market I worry about. Private companies influence my life more directly, and there are virtually no rules governing how my data's being used.

Plus, I have issues being a continuing source of revenue for a company after I've already purchased their product. If they want to use it, fine, then I should get a discount/rebate :)

I've deleted FB, twitter, instagram, google search, netflix, Amazon and the chase card attached to the account, youtube tv and started a list of companies not getting my business. I've also started collecting paper maps from welcome centers, my next phone will have the ability to remove the battery, trying not to buy anything from China, bought pillows and towels from Mike, bought much Goya products, have plenty of ammo and buying more aluminum foil. Anything I miss?

It still confuses me why people get so paranoid over GPS trackers.

    - Your credit card tracks your every movement via purchases as well as your demographics and is sold to third parties.

    - Your Kroger (or other store) loyalty card knows your name, address, number of family members, gender, shopping habits, location, etc.

    - Your phone (pretty much regardless of settings) tracks your location periodically via system and 3rd party apps.

    - Every internet device you use is tracked using an IP Address; your ISP sells all of your data "anonymously" to third parties and they also know your habits.

I'm sure I missed some other stuff, but the point is (at least in the US) your data is not private. The EU has SOME nice protections via the GDPR, but companies in the US make a lot of money off selling our data. I would just write off the GPS tracker as either shut off when you fail to pay for it or, the data they collect becomes anonymous.

Another issue... Carplay actually uses the built-in GPS from the radio; it's a requirement for the carplay standard. I would just assume in this day and age, unless you live under a rock with absolutely no internet or financials, you are being tracked lol. I'm not paranoid, just trying to provide some perspective here.

Let's say the 4x4 actuator broke while at an OHV park. :mudding:

Does corporate Toyota try to deny the claim? :annoyed:

I don't have to take the vaccine since I'm a white male at the back of the line. We'll have herd immunity long before I'm allowed to get vaccinated. Funny how that worked out.
