Yeah that makes more sense to me. Leather was either port or dealer installed. Never factory

OP has an SR5. It doesn't have leather anyway, as you can see in the OP pic.

There is no "sport" option for 1st gens.

If by "sport" seats they meant "limited" seats, they should say that. More than likely the OP is experiencing retailers that have no idea what they're selling and think all Tacomas are the same.

    I've seen some retailers claim a part fits a 2004 "Pro" model...

I think the “sport” designation comes from just traditional dealer and parts software. When I was looking for Limited seats on car-part.com, their software designated Sport seats as Limited seats.

In other words the software is shit because it doesn't properly identify the model or sub-model, adding unnecessary confusion.

Like the "base" model, it's not always clear if said retailer is actually talking about a 2wd 5 lug, or a 6 lug. Kind of important, lol.

Is that Toyota's fault for giving two completely different trucks the same name (compounding confusion with the 6 lug 2wd)? Yeah, probably. But it's not really a secret, and something I wish retailers has a better grasp of.

To continue this thread I had Toyota tell me recently that they don’t sell key fobs for my 04’ anymore since it was never a factory option. Additionally, my base model bucket seats that are original “leather” also had a switch on the lower section of the seat. It’s never worked but I assume it’s for lumbar.

Yup. Limiteds came from the factory with the sport bucket seats in cloth. If it was leather, it was a dealer add on.

I can't say if it was a factory option (most likely was), but these trucks 100% came with an OEM Toyota security system with keyless entry. It was the Toyota RS3200 system.
