Been trying to purchase a Tacoma for a couple months now. I want something specific, and no dealer within a 200 mile radius of South Carolina can seem to make it happen.

Wanted a 2012 TRD Sport, DCLB 4x4 with Entune in either BLACK or PYRITE MICA--- They all say they see a "few" they can locate but when I go to put $$ down for a deposit, they all give me a story about the dealer who has it giving them the run around. Is this normal?

If any of you are dealers in the Southeast and you read this, HELP! lol

I think the Long Bed and 4x4 and Entune are the deal killers. I'm about to erase the Entune option and see if they can find without it and then I'd just put aftermarket system in it after I buy it.

Am I the only one who's had this experience.....?

I've heard some TRD Sport LB's are not as common as the other models for whatever reason? My buddy got a 2006 Sport LB in black and they said it was a rare model so who knows.

I think I know a few places you may have delt with and YES I went through the same thing.
I finally said screw it ,and bought a used Tacoma from Private seller. You may need to search a bigger radius and make some calls to some bigger city lots? Explain this issue and tell them exactly what you want and tell them you are ready to deal. Good luck!

Me and my step dad both were trading ours In to get 2012 sport with entune. They had hard times trying to get the dealershiPS to give them up BC they had the entune and are a little harder to get obviously. Mine came from Hilton head, and they got his from myrtle beach.

I actually called the dealership in SC and asked then why they wouldn't let mine in NC have it so I could buy it BC I to thought my dealer was just bsin. But they weren't and after some fight they gave it up

The dealer I purchased from had the vehicle delivered from a dealer 500 miles away. You can search Toyota's inventory yourself, locate what you want and then contact all the dealers to see who will get you the best price (start with True Car pricing and work down). The other alternative is to order what you want, they can get their Toyota rep to modify one already ordered in production to your spec.

If it's the vehicle you absolutely want, why not just make the drive to the dealer that has it and buy straight from them.

Double taxes if you buy from another state.

I won't pay double taxes- you only pay on your state of residency. I would easily drive to get it, problem is the dealers here are telling me there aren't any in the Southeast. Well, actually they will tell me there are ones, send me spec sheets and when I say ok I want that one with the specific VIN all I a sudden they can't get it:-/

I may just start calling dealers a few states away and telling them if they have it I'll fly out to pick it up

You pay tax where you title the vehicle if I'm thinking correct.

Do that. Atlanta has a huge Toyota dealership. They are a volume dealer, just not sure of the name.

May be incorrect for your state, but when I called my local dmv, they said if I go there I pay there taxes and when I get it registered here in NC id pay NC taxes....hence why I had it relocated to my dealer and did not go to SC dealer

Did you actually go buy it in another state? I'm just saying what NC told me. I didn't pay but once either bc I had it sent here.

FtI also live in sc. I wanted to purchase a tx pro model. Several dealers stated they hadn't even heard of that model much less had one on there lot to sell.one told me they were not sold in the toyota south east region. Go figure. So my son and i purchased my truck in knoxville tn. Round trip including paper work was 21hrs. It was worth it. Got the color and model truck i wanted.

Sweet. I just left a dealer in Charleston who swears they can have the exact truck I want in a week. I'm gonna give them a shot and if it doesn't show up, I'll start calling states all over and I'll fly out and pick one up. Here's to hoping a black TRD Sport DCLB shows up soon

We rented a car at the mrytle bch jetport. The dealership in myrte bch promisd me they would research trying to locate the truck. Never got back with me to atleast attempt to try to sell me a truck on their lot. Bad thing is this is where i have to go for servicing. I will say this, im the only person with a tx pro in my area. Ive had many people question about my truck and the fact they have never seen a tx pro edition.
