Given that Ford Motor Company is not a non profit organization I'm left wondering how they can advertise F150's at $10,000 off MSRP.

OK so it's sort of a rhetorical question but I would be interested in other views. Have fun!

Would guess through an ad agency. :))

Ford cuts into it's profit & the dealers as well?

I would guess maybe higher list = higher profit with certain, unique configurations with even better returns allowing ford to show an even deeper discount on specific units?

Of course auto makers can lose money...

Or maybe losing money on say 5% of a particular (but profiting on the other 95% of F150s) model but being able to claim the worlds best selling model may be worth something do they do?

But and again I would guess it's just cutting into profits from the manufacturer & dealer with hopes of selling other products (F&I / extended warranty etc) making it a better deal for them than just sell price.

Marketing strategy. They make the consumer feel as if they are getting a fantastic deal. I fell for it. I do and don't regret it at the same time. I now own a tacoma because of it. So I guess in the end I'm happier.

Oh come on! Lets have some fun with this!

Shouldn't the consumer feel that they are getting ripped off at MSRP?

"SOB's Ill never buy one of those again"

How does the person who bought one 6 months ago feel about the "New Price" his neighbor just paid?

"How can I show my face now that my neighbor knows what a fool I am"

What do the stealerships think when corporate shoves this loss down there throats?

"Jeez I can't go home at night with the good feeling of knowing I just hustled another fool out of big money cause someone I don't even know decided that they new how to sell it!!!"
