2008 - 2000 S10 2WD, first rig and loved it. Went like snot but a pig on fuel. Paid $4000 sold for $3000 and got the Jeep.

    2313D965-D92B-4898-9347-5EBE8B02FFF7.jpg

2011 - 1997 Jeep TJ was a lot of fun but rust eventually got the frame Paid $3500 sold for $4000

2011 - 2000 VW Jetta, bought this for $200 to try and save some money on fuel for a while, the Jeep was a pig and the Jetta was junk, auto trans was toast and slipped like crazy. Sold for $150 after about a year of driving it.

2012 - 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport DCLB, bought this from my grandfather who bought it new, only had 30,000km on it when I got it. Loved this truck to death but was in an accident last year and it written off, Paid $15,000, insurance gave me $15,500 for it after driving it for 6 years !

Those are 6-8 ft snow drifts in this pic, it was a rough but fun winter that year ! I think around 2014.

Nov 2018 - Bought a 2012 Jetta 2.5 5 spd to hold me over till I found another Tacoma. Was a pig on fuel but a lot of fun to drive. Paid $5500, traded for $4500

Jan 2019 - 2018 TRD Sport DCLB, first brand new rig and I love it. Kept getting stuck in the Jetta during the winter and got sick of it so traded in on the Taco.
Paid $40,000 cad o_O will keep this one for a long time or until I need to get a half ton, which will hopefully be when the Tundra gets a revamp !

I've always wanted a truck but could never justify it, but last summer I finally pulled the trigger the following is my story.

1996 Mercury Cougar Xr7 - A hand me down and the vehicle I learned how to work on cars on almost always something was going out on it.
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT- loved it but it was rear ended, and although they fixed it had many electrical demons there after.
2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP LOVED this car but was doing a lot of traveling and the miles started getting high on it. Trans slipping too.
2013 Cadillac ATS- Great car but was a little too small and I absolutely had buyers remorse within a year of owning it. Coming home from work last summer it was totaled and I pulled the trigger on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma Off Road. I can't see me without a truck in the family ever again.

    1998: 1984 Subaru Brat
    2000: 1984 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency coupe
    2004: 1996 Cadillac Eldorado
    2007: 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo
    2008: 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    2009: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am
    2018: 2018 Tacoma

Started with the Brat as a hand-me-down in high school, had large GM coupes til kids were on the way, got to drive the Grand Cherokee for a few months before I swapped with the wife and started driving her Grand Am so she could have the SUV for mom stuff. Drove that Grand Am way longer than I wanted to (it just wouldn’t die!!) before finally getting what I wanted: the Tacoma.

Biggest regret on the list is getting rid of the Oldsmobile. That was the most comfortable ride ever. Like driving a king size pillow-top mattress...

I drove a 1998 T100 from 2001-2018. It was a nearly perfect 4WD truck. The 3rd generation Tacomas were finally large enough to be pretty similar to the T-100. I considered a 2018 Tundra, but that was way more truck than I needed, and the gas mileage was terrible. Hence the 2018 OR DCLB Tacoma.

2008 - Junior in high school, parents cosigned an '05 Ford Escape - used my odd jobs to pay it down. Great little SUV, had it for 9 years until it started to rust away. Served me well throughout college, travels and my initial jobs.

2017 - While I was young and making decent money, wanted a fun car and ended up buying a new Challenger. I knew it would be a financial mistake, but it was a great experience overall. Slapped a full stainless exhaust on and tint/wheels - my first experience at modifying a vehicle. Lots of thumbs up from people when driving it.

2019 - Having recently bought my first home and looking towards longevity of a vehicle, my priorities shifted from a fun vehicle to one that would be capable, durable, and have good utility. I wanted something I could have for many years reliably, something that could take me places on and off pavement while navigating WI winters. I looked at a variety of brands, such as Subaru and Toyota, and landed at the Tacoma. The capability, size, decent fuel economy (for what it is), reliability, price - all of that factored in. Plus, it looks great (vain but still a factor). Hoping to have this truck for many miles, years, and adventures to come.

    D-ring tie-downs.
Let's see, truck history, I have to start backwards from today. Last June I got my '18 TRD OR. Late summer of '14 leased a TRD OR Access cab for a year then sold it. Had to use the money I got after payoff to buy a refrigerator. Sometime in '12 I bought an '06 SR5 Access cab and used what Toyota gave me for it to get into the '15. Traded an '02 4x2 extended cab Ranger in on the '06. Somewhere around '04 I bought a neighbor's '95 4x2 Sanoma for $500. That winter I did some after-work odd jobs and paid for that thing 5 times over on one of them. That thing only lasted about a year for me cause the previous owner used to commute on the interstate. Winter commuting on PA highways is a real good way to completely disintegrate anything made of metal. For tight parking and hilly streets my Tacomas are the only way to go.

The Acura’s were fun, the Subies were boring, the Bravada was a total POS.

Starting in '84 my first car as a junior in high school was an '81 Toyota Tercel, after that it gets ridiculous on how many cars I have owned, 30+ but just trucks since you asked what truck route did we take...

    '79 Plymouth Arrow Pickup
    '91 Ford Ranger
'04 Tundra 4dr (I think I regret selling this truck more than any other vehicle I have owned)
    '06 Tacoma Access Cab
'01 VW Eurovan MV (still have and they are on truck frames so it's a truck right?)
'16 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB (my current daily and plan on keeping this one for a long time!)

As far as I was concerned, there was no other game in town. I've owned Rangers and they treated me well, but that was not an option till now. GM and Nissan weren't even a possibility.
