So tire weight is driving me F$&@ing nuts.

My stock 265/65/17 Dunlop AT20's are 36lbs each. I have been looking at all kinds replacement AT's in 265/65/18 or maybe 275's but the weight difference is bugging me. For example BFG AT's are 54lbs each. That seems like a huge difference to me and must be a mpg killer. I know my new wheel choice will also impact this but I am just referring to tire weight here.

Please post your info and what losses you have seen... Thanks!

i would guess not much or 1 MPG. Do you notice a considerable MPG loss when you have a passenger?

I get what your saying but that's why I asked the question I have now clue how the rolling weight will affect my mpg

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Just a guess, but I think it is more the added friction than the weight causing MPG to decrease with larger tires.

I tossed my Dunpoop Grandtreks after 500mi and got load range C Goodyear Dura Tracs 265-70-17. These are slightly bigger than the factory 265-65-17 tires and alot mot agressive, but very light for their size. I paired these with XD Revolvers, so no factory wheels either.

I'm a double cab long bed 4x4 auto trans with a cap now and with winter gas now get an average of 15-17mpg with lots of city driving.

    Too few to list.
It's more than weight that affected mine. My wheel and tire stick out pass the flares and I believe the wheels are heavier than stock as well so I went from getting 19-22 to 16-18.
