How do I disable beeper when in low range 4WD. I do alot of grouse hunting on old logging roads and want to go as slow as I can but this beeper makes it impossible to do that. Any thoughts?

If it's beeping, I'm assuming the 4LO indicator light is flashing. If that's the case it's not in 4LO. Follow the shifting procedure in the manual.

I asked this once too. If it's beeping, it didn't engage in 4Lo. That's what the beeping is.

If your truck is like mine, and you aren't on a perfectly level surface. It may take 2 or 3 tries to properly engage in 4Lo, even following the correct procedure.

Get used to it before you need it. Even if that means testing on dry pavement (driving straight). Figure out how to get in and out of all the modes, including any other functions and features that you have including rear locker, MTS, CC, A-TRAC, AutoLSD, 4Lo, etc. Trying to figure out beeps and no-gos while puckered or partially stuck is just going to make the situation worse.

This beeper is the warning sound alerting you that you haven't read the operator's manual.

The “how to” is on the sun visor. On my automatic. Stop and put into neutral then shift over to 4lo

    This is best bet.
OP, as others have already mentioned, you're probably not yet in low, or have something else going on, like not wearing (or fastening) seat belt. At the farm or the range, I buckle the belt while I'm out of the truck, so everyone else and myself doesn't have to listen to it,,,, gets annoying after a while.

It is pretty easy to get the belt chime turned off. The Carista app, TechStream, or someone local to you with those tools?

Although, I am damn close to yanking the speaker off the instrument cluster because no one has a software fix for the key in chime.

I enjoy the three beeps that I hear when I get out with the truck running and then yelling "I know!" as I grab the newspaper from the driveway. Keeps the neighbors from coming around.

    Good point.

I have been thinking about that for a long time, but I hear what is most likely the fuel system priming when my key hits that. Even though it is most likely not a concern, I don't want to lose that function.

Beyond that for as loud as the key in chime is, the turn signal volume is generally inaudible on the highway, so losing the speaker is becoming less of a worry, esp as no one has another solution.

Yeah, Tacoma 4Lo engagement is a bit tricky. Oddly the Jeep 4Lo engages with ease at any inclination. Not sure why that is.

Mine engages just fine in all sorts of situations.

Of course, the idea is to be in 4lo before you need it....

Yes. That is the priming function that I don't want to lose.
