the plug is super easy to get to. All you have to do is take the steering shroud off. It’s a two pin connector with usually a blue and white/black wire in it. Unplug it and see what happens. I highly doubt there will be any programming available to turn it off. If so you’d be able to do it through the teach stream and TIS. Pretty sure the piezo/speaker is soldered onto the cluster, if so you’d have to desolder to disable

Why not just disable the door-a-jar switch? The key only chimes while the door is open.

Then the interior lights won't work.

The speaker is only functional for me for turn signals, which are almost inaudible on the highway where they are most important to turn off.

Cutting the red wire circled below should be sufficient to mute the key reminder and retain full function of the dome light. I have not done this myself. I may do so along with the seat belt reminder.

I've been in there because I installed the HU override switch near the steering tilt lever.

Anyway, here's the last two vids. This first one seems worse than the original.

Bring back the manual transfer case lever & manual hubs , as others pointed out your 4lo did not engage

Screw that. Speaker is gone. The final straw was the beeps going into 2Lo. It does (did!) that sometimes even when going in successfully.

As others have said, beeping means you are not in 4lo. If its beeping, turn the selector knob back to 4hi, put truck in nuetral, switch back to 4lo, wait a few seconds, put it in drive

Because the Toyota system will last many years while jeep system will have many reliability issues...

So far my Jeep has had no issues. I've had to take my Tacoma in for 2 problems. So every vehicle is different I guess. But I'm also not one of those guys who buys a brand new vehicle and pretends I will keep it for 10+ years, so long term reliability doesn't matter to me really.

Maybe not you but most owners of Toyota (and Honda) vehicles regardless of type and model tend to keep their vehicles longer than other makes...I never owned a jeep but I do come across their reputation from various publications and ofcourse Scotty Kilmer's YouTube channel

Rule one, read the manual!! I was not applying the brake when trying to shift to 4lo. The beeping was telling me it was not engaged and still in 4hi. All is fine now , Thanks everyone.

    Good work.

Still though, pay more attention to the flashing versus steady light as I would get some beeps even with a successful engagement.

Thanks to this thread and one of the beeps during an engagement, it put me over the edge to cut out the speaker. I missed the turn signal tone for about 5min. Soooo nice and quiet now, esp without the key-in chime.

I wheel with alot of people who don't get this. Constantly flipping between 4 high and 2wd, struggling up in 4 H 1st gear, back to 2wd, etc. It gets real annoying, but no one listens to me anyways...

Like..... You're wheeling. Saving fuel isnt the goal here, kids.

Yeah idk man. I think those folks are in the boat of "don't flip it until you need it" type folks. I see them spinning wheels and using momentum in 2wd trying to get up stuff. Fail. Back up, flip it into 4 high, try again, etc. then flip it back to 2wd.

I hit dirt and flip to 4 H knowing the trail will get rocky, then 4 low simply for the gearing and not struggling this thing up climbs.
