I travel a lot and have wondered about this. How do you scan for a hidden camera like the person in the article? How did they access the live feed?

It only works if the camera is connected to WiFi, but you can scan the WiFi with an app called Net Analyzer. It also shows the IP.

That would show you everything connected to the wifi and would it also allow you to access those devices? Somehow the people in that article were able to see the camera's live feed.

I does not give you access to the feed but it would show if there was a camera connected to the WiFi there. I’ve searched online but I can’t find anything that would give you access to the video. I’m interested in seeing if other members know.

    Have smarter kids.

I love IT and the fact that a lot of people just don’t understand anything about it. Makes our lives so much easier.

More than likely that camera was setup on an unsecured WiFi broadcast. All you have to do is connect to it, find the IP and then path to it. Bam! Now you see what they see. 2-3 minutes tops.

Oh, I most certainly have smarter kids. They never tire of reminding me either.

    Here’s your answer.

Dude probably just opened his phone and scanned for available WiFi spots. Saw something and connected. Once he did he was able to access the live feed. Once you see the view you can narrow down where it’s sitting.

Whomever had the camera set up was an amateur. Most smart people would set the SSID to not be broadcast, connect it to a local router and you would never now the camera was there.

Shit, my WiFi here in my apartment is set to not broadcast the SSID. I have to give you the info for you to even see my WiFi connection.

I've had a couple devices fail to connect to my router if the SSID isn't broadcasted. I have my Wi-Fi secured with a password and MAC filtering.
