I bought the truck used and never planned on towing a trailer so never looked into if it had the tow package or not. it is an 4x4 05 dcsb trd v6. When i bought the truck it had a tow hitch and 7 pin plug for the trailer. I did not see anything on my door jam sticker. Thanks for the help! Also what exactly is the difference with having the tow package and not?

If it has a 7 round connex it is likely that the truck came with the town package . other things that will indicate this are a transmission cooler, (a small radiator in front of the ac condenser up front)and an extra oil cooler, evidenced by two hydraulic looking lines just below the oil filter .

Main difference is the auxiliary coolers (transmission and oil). The transmission cooler looks like a smaller radiator mounted in front of the main one, and the oil cooler is right under the oil filter I believe.

Awesome, I think it's worth having the tow package. My 3rd gen came with one.

It's NOT. It is what connects the lines from the oil cooler to the engine.
Also, trans cooler is only on automatic, and tow package comes with a 27F (larger) battery.

I just came across this question as I was looking to see if a 2017 TRD OR that I purchased used had a tow package installed. Toyota has created a VIN lookup feature on their site where you can input your vehicle's VIN and it will report a detailed list of all installed features, including whether the feature was installed at the factory or the dealership. It also provides a lot of other detailed information, like where the vehicle was first purchased, etc. In case you are curious, I guess.

    Here is the link: https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification

    Cool welcome to TW!:hattip:
The date on this thread was from almost 2 years ago. I am sure OP has figured it out by now, but good looking out and being helpful.
At least the OP is still around. He was last seen roaming the halls yesterday.

Thank you! It amazes me the wealth of knowledge in these forums. Such an awesome resource.

Definitely! It sounded like from the thread he had the answers he needed. I wanted to report in case others with the same question came across this thread, just as I did earlier this evening. Considered making a new post but figured that would be unnecessary given good information was already out there.

No worries. Sometimes dragging up a old thread is a good thing to do. But all 3rd gens now and most of the 2nd gens came with a tow package only exceptions maybe the regular cab and access cab on the 2nd gens.
