do army infantry get stationed in AK? I don't know why, but that's where I want to be. Is it difficult to get stationed there?

(I know you don't get to pick, but I would imagine getting a higher chance if it's a place that nobody really wants to go)

    Google much?

There are two BCTs in AK, 4/25 is an airborne BCT at Fort Rich and 1/25 is an SBCT at Fort Wainwright. Tons of folks get stationed there. Plenty of people get stationed there by choice either by reenlisting for it or by calling HRC and requesting it. Other folks get there via luck on their initial enlistment or by luck when their branch manager tells them they are going to AK. You can increase your chances by adjusting your ASK or being airborne qualified. Full disclosure--- 4/25 was set to be trimmed down to just a battalion task force under the latest round of sequestration cuts, but has been retained for now. If it gets trimmed, it will be similar to what Rich and Vicenza looked like in the 90s.

Luck of the draw for me. It was my 1st station.
If you're airborne as @ABNFDC already stated you have a chance for 4/25 in Anchorage. You don't want Fairbanks haha. Call branch, your best bet is to just ask.
