Bought my red SR5 about a month ago and the dealer must have done a sloppy job applying whatever clear coat/paint protection (I think) and left drip marks on my running boards. Any ideas on how to get this off? ThanksIMG_4702.jpg

Are you sure it's not car wax? I know they make stuff for restoring the black plastic on cars, not sure what it's called but any auto parts store should carry it. If it still won't come off then I would look at covering it with a black paint marker maybe.

Thats what I thought it was but when I went to pick it up there were some white spots on other places of the truck (didn't notice this until later) and I asked what they were and the dealer said the other dealer they traded with to get this truck put a paint protection or clear coat on it and thats what it was.

I know (and I'm sure you do too) it would've been best to call it out when you picked the truck up originally, but if the dealer is willing to say that it was done BEFORE you took receipt then they should also be willing to take care of it. Whether they correct it themselves, or have the previous dealership do it, they've already agreed that it was prior to you having the truck. I'd take it back to em!

I would try using some car wash soap and a scrub brush before using the other harsher chemicals and because its a textured surface. Acetone and brake cleaner may soften up the paint and damage the finish if not careful. If the soap doesnt work, then Alcohol next. The back to black will just hide it if its wax, so it will eventually return when it wears off.

Diluted Orange TKO would likely also take it off. Just be careful not to get any on the paint of your truck. Dilute some, spray it onto just where the drop marks are, give it a light scrub then wash it away.

Wd40 or Goof Off/Orange cleaner is what I would try. Plus a brush. I'd even mask the paint near the area so it doesn't strip whatever snake oil they put on the paint surface. To me, Acetone or brake cleaner would be a last resort. Very harsh.
