Out here in San Diego, Our local Lowes carries craftsman....
They swap out broken tools, no point in just throwing away what you have if theres still a local option.
I had no idea about the warrantable extractors. so I figured ide share...
When it comes to broken bolt extractors, I only use Rigid brand straight shaft flute style extractors, also lifetime warranty.
Figured that would be a wear item, for what it's used for....

could it be the dust shield? first time I replaced a CV I bent the dust shield and had a terrible sound -- turns out it was just rattling and I bent the shield back a bit?

Not impossible at all, and I'll look at it as I replace the speed sensors.

My only thought is I somehow pinched one of the metal brake lines? But I don't get why it worked for a good 20 min (including highway speed). But I don't get how gunk on a speed sensor would cause the brakes to do what they are doing....

So, been really thinking this all over, and my next step is going to be changing the right wheel bearings. I knew the right one was going for a while, as i would have a hum that would go away turning left. But i noticed a ton of gunk when i was changing the axle, and as I have been sitting here.. something else just clicked on me. I saw a tiny spring when i was looking into the bearing hub, and a little surprised to see something so small and delicate. However, after reading what i have about the ABS sensor, etc... i think that may have been the coil embedded in the hub that would be read by the sensor. So, if i can see that, it means that hub is not in good shape (and yes, i touched it, i know....).

More youtubing says that i should already have all the tools on hand to get it changed, so i know what my project is today....

So.. old bearings came off today, and to say they needed replacement is an understatement, regardless of the brakes...

So far driving it feels good. No abs light, and initial driving is good. Brakes were mush at first but I had pushed the calipers back, so that made sense. A few good pumps and they were happy. Going to keep testing before I call success. Having never done ANY major vehicle work, I am now up to:
    Front shocks (both)
    Right CV axle
    Right wheel bearing hub
    Sway bar links
    ABS sensor (just in case)

It's been an investment, but an invaluable one I think. Between the tools and the knowledge, I am glad so far to have taken this on myself
