How do I know if I have a limited slip differential?

I have a 2008 SR5 4x4 and every time I make sharp turns my tires screech. Is this an indication of an LSD or is this normal?

 

That may be an indication you're driving too fast around the corner.

screeching when turning would be the indication of a locker being locked. not an lsd. could be a totally different problem causing the screeching. look on your rear diff and see if there is a sticker that says "lsd oil only" or something like that to tell if you have a lsd.

If your differential has this sticker, you have a mechanical limited slip.

 

Tire screech could just be an alignment issue too.

 

lift both your rear tires off of the ground
spin one
if the other spins in the opposite direction: open
if the other spins in the same direction: limited

this applies to a mechanical LSD
i'm not up to snuff on the Atrac, or whatever the heck, stuff
