Hello all. I have a 99 Tacoma prerunner 2.7L auto with 217k miles. How do I know if I need a tune-up? The car runs fine with no issues. I'm just curious because I think I am due for a tune up because of mileage. If the car is running fine should I still do a tune-up or should I do it because of the high miles? Last tune up was done at around 180k.

What is normally done in tune up? If I do tune up I plan on cleaning the intake manifold and throttle body, replace PCV valve, spark plugs and cap/rotor, oil change, and fuel filter. Does this cover a basic tune up or is there more I should do? Thanks.

Include a new air filter as well, and lube the u-joints. Your truck does not have a distributor, so no cap/rotor.

I'd also check the valve adjustments. Easy to check, but hard to adjust.

    Started automatic. Swapped to manual
Radiator flush and fill would be on my list also.
