    Title says it all...
Its summer and it's hot... How can I leave the truck running with one key, lock all the doors and take key #2 in with me to eat? Thanks!

Have you tried exiting and putting key #2 in the drivers side and locking it by turning left?

That has the same behavior as trying to lock all the doors with the internal lock button which is all the doors unlock at once. It's weird....

Yeah I'm thinking this is a safety feature. Because what happens if you lose key #2 because Barbra came on to you at Jersey Mike's and ends up tying you up in her studio apartment and your AC goes out and your dogs end up melting? Barba needs this. Or, you're a cheap ass and only have a 1/4 tank of gas and it runs dry? Someone needs to be able to get in to a running vehicle without breaking your window.

I think its so you don't lock your self out when the key is in the ignition.

Most of the restaurants around here have been serving outside since the virus. I just take mine with me. He sits in the chair and eyeballs the waitress (takes after his owner). Hasn’t ordered anything yet but I am sure that is coming next.

It should work exactly as @Freegolf says....I do it all the time in the winter here to keep the truck warm, but locked.

Maybe play with the settings in the radio to disable that auto-unlock?

You want to leave dogs in a car? Why would you want to do that. Either take them with you or leave them at home?

Weve seen alot of dogs die because the owners leave them in a hot car in az.

I would never leave my dog in a vehicle. He comes with me wherever I am going or I leave him at home. Even police K-9s have died when there were malfunctions in police cars that are made to stay on and air conditioned.

My wife did it with her old car all the time to make a quick trip into a business. Car running, locked, a/c on for the dog. Nothing wrong with that for quick stops. That is what OP is trying to figure out how to do.

I'm glad you're a mind reader, because that's definitely not what I got from reading the original post. Actually after reading it again, he wants to take #2 in with him to eat!?

If you have auto up windows, make sure all the doors are closed with the drivers window rolled down. Reach in through the open window press the lock button on the master switch then close drivers window. Use extra Hard key to unlock vehicle to get back in after wards.
Works for me when I want to leave the AC running.

I also have a non-chipped copy of my key that’ll work in the driver door. Then there’s no risk of losing the 2nd chipped key while the 1st one’s in the ignition

How about you not leave the dogs in the truck? If your AC ever stopped working or the dogs hit it by accident, they'd be at risk.

Better yet, leave them home inside.

Even better still, just don't have a dog if you want to put their lives in jeopardy.
