I want to permanently remove my srs airbag system from my 97 Tacoma how do I do this?

It’s a simple question PLEASE DO NOT GET OFF TOPIC!! i fully understand the dangers and legal matters involved.

The only answers I want to hear is how to remove it. Without disabling my ignition.

I think it has to do with the ECU. Something is programmed into it to make sure the airbag is working before start up.

This isnt verified fact, just what I've heard.

I do know someone that removed an airbag relay or something on a different vehicle and it still started. Just gave him an annoying alert non stop

You could cut every yellow wire in the truck and it should still start.

I've run many vehicles without steering wheels, let alone air bags.

What do you mean it wont turn over without the air bag?

Wouldn't cutting the yellow wires possibly cause an airbag to blow? Legitimate question

Only by inducing voltage, lets say another 12v wire was next to it and you cut into it, the sidecutters would transfer the voltage.

Biggest fear now, is rocking the srs ecu while the battery is connected, modern trucks think its in a roll over and blows the curtains.

I think it should be easier for you since it's a 97 OP. Most newer vehicles have such sophisticated ECUs and electrical shit that it would be more of a headache.

I'd say try cutting yellows like Bishop said

Is the air bag light on, that's why you want to delete the air bag? If that's the case, remove the cluster bulb?

I help remove the air bag computer from a 96 and no issue with start up.

Noooooooo dont cut them willy nilly, I was exaggerating saying that they wouldnt stop the truck from running lol.

Removing the SRS ECU is the best way. Then cut out the wires.

Would they still function if the battery was disconnected?

Thanks for the fast replies. I removed the air bag and unplugged the airbag module my truck still starts and runs and Has no airbag light.

My question now is can I just cut the rest of the airbag system out? With out messing up my ignition!? Common sense would tell me I could, but I would like to know forsure?

Just curious as to why you want to do this. What is the specific use case? Weight savings? Asking because I want to so something similar.
