I've noticed this white residue on the exterior of the drum brakes. What should i use to clean it?

Is the white residue on the brake shoes or the inners of the brake drums?

Brake shoes. I assume just regular brake cleaner, but want to be sure.

Well damn, brake cleaner and some sandpaper, see if its built back up next time you have the rear tires off.

What you may be seeing is mineral deposits from water that's gotten baked on due to the heat generated in braking. If that's the case, Lime Away, CLR or similar products should remove it. Be careful though. Do not apply those chemicals to either a hot brake drum or anywhere near aluminum wheels. And always rinse well when finished.

Thank you That's the more in-depth answer i was looking for. Because when i try washing it off, it just stays on. And haven't bothered to actually get back there to clean it off. I'll try one of those solutions.
