so I've been doing some mods to my new ride in the last few weeks and decided to pull the pin stripes off today. Down here in the 100 degree sun the stripes peeled right off, but the so,e of the glue from the stripes is still there.

How can I get the glue off?

(Before and after pics posted as well)

Most auto paint stores will have something to remove the vinyl residue. Yes, California sucks! I used the 3M stuff to clean up after pulling the trdor decals off my 02 Tundra...back then you could buy good stuff in Cali.

Been wanting so bad to do the same but it'd be my luck I'd damage the paint.

I removed 20 year-old baked on stripes from my '95 4Runner a few weeks ago, and there is still tons of eggshell in the paint from the adhesive. I also tried a bunch of different chemicals, including HD Goof Off, but they were really rough on the paint. The only thing that worked, but took lots of patience was a 3M Stripe-Off wheel. It's basically a giant eraser for a drill.

WD-40, Goo Gone, mineral spirits are all good choices.

Usually a bit on a rag applied to a small area, allow to soften, remove residue with your fingernail.

After making a final wipe up on a panel, you'll need to rewax. All solvent choices worth using will remove whatever wax is there.

    x2.

Who is the one that actually makes the decision to install pinstriping on a vehicle in this day, and age? I thought that stuff died out like 20 years ago.

I used the 3m wheel on my 4runner's SR5 stripes. Heat gun got a lot of it off, but the wheel worked great on the dried and cracked sections. It removed the adhesive well, was a bit time consuming but I think any method will be. It makes quite a mess though.

The 3M eraser wheel. Hooks up to your power drill.

A possible idea; NuFinish liquid polish. This stuff does well as removing dried on tar, and in my experience, the residue from removed door edge guards.
Worth a shot and shouldn't be too hard on the paint.
