How Do I Remove The GAUGE Cluster?

I'd like to remove the GAUGE Cluster in order to properly remove the Silver Gauge rings. I know they can be pulled off without removing the cluster but I fear in nicking up the outside.

If anyone has the best way to remove the Silver Gauge Cluster. Please do let me know and shed some light on it for me.

1. pop the door sill.
2. remove driver kick panel.
3. pull out right hand "pocket" next to steering wheel (pull straight out, sharply)
4. then unscrew the 2 screws holding the lower portion of the dash (another sharp pull towards seat)
5. remove the top plastic fasteners directly above the gauges (shown in the customtacos link)
6. again pull sharply to remove upper portion of dash

once you have that off, there are little "tabs" that you will need to use a flat head screw driver blade or spackling blade

the rings are not glued or plastic riveted on.

How about just getting the silver rings off?

 

from what i remember......there are tiny clips that you have to lift, with a flat head screw driver or blade, from the back side
