How do I remove the rear quarter panel trim (interior) on a 98 extra cab?

Looking to remove the plastic trim piece that the seat belts come through, that surrounds the rear quarter glass etc...

    Is it a huge PITA?

Also I can't be without seat belts because it's my only vehicle so while the trim panel is out I need to be able to have seat belts.

    Thanks.

They come off pretty easily after the back panel is out. I can't link to the FSM anymore but search the "Repair Manual##Body##Roof Headlining (Extended Cab)##Removal" first page and it says what to do.

That's what I was looking at - however it makes no mention of what to do with the seatbelts.

    That's where I'm hung up

I mean... they tell you to remove the coat hook bolt and the two on the quarter glass hinge, then say to remove the trim. Only problem is there are two seat belts preventing you from removing the trim. And in the diagram they just show the seat belts laying on the floor. (see attached) Are you fucking kidding me?

Does anyone know how to remove the seat belts? In trying to investigate how to get to the bolt holding them on, I already cracked one of the piece of shit plastic caps.

The caps pry open carefully. Then the bolt is exposed. You will need to remove all bolts holding on the seat belts. Then the end should fit through the panel.

Damn man you have bad luck! I've dismantled all of the stuff you've asked about and only lost one clip on the whole deal. No broken anything.

It's not so much bad luck as it is knobitude.

I'm very gentle with this shit as I know it's 14 year old plastic... and plastic isn't meant to be pried apart... and one of the affixed tabs on the back side of that trim garnish (the uppermost part of the rear wall panel) snapped off and one of the clips broke.

And, like I mentioned that little clip on the end of the door rod halfway broke as well as the seatbelt cap.

Yea, those panels were a real pain. You have to remove the panels on the back wall first, also the floor trim panels in the door ways. then you have to remove the seatbelt bolt covers by gently prying them open with a flat screwdriver. Remove the seatbelt shoulder bolts, then i believe the side panel will pop off.

I actually got really good directions on the removal of all of these panels from crutchfield, when i bought new speakers from them.
