Hey everyone! New to the tacoma fam, just bought a 2013 RC 4x4. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to remove the chrome wheelskins seen on the tire in the picture. I dont really want to break them but i think they are tacky looking. Help!

Probably held on by the lugnuts. Have you tried looking to see how they're attached?

Some dealers put those on to pretty em up before they sell em. We see them on CRV's and Ridgelines at the Honda dealer I work at...
I think they sorta just clip around the spokes on the back.....but wouldn't surprise me if they are gonna break coming off no matter what.

They snap on around each spoke, i was hoping they would just come right off but i think i am going to have to break them, i like the look of the 5 spoke steelies.

Those are put on with an adhesive and bonded to the wheel. It is not made to be removable. Not sure what the wheel actually looks like if you were able to get the chrome cladding off. It might be ok if you planned to have the wheel sand blasted and powder coated. Have the same thing on my 2013 and don't care for them either.

I believe this is what the wheel under the plastic looks like.

Sometimes there will be a little metal clip kind of like a wheel weight around the plastic wheel cover in several places. Gently pry with a screwdriver and look carefully around the bead of each rim. If not then it's held on with the lug nuts

With the way the skin is attached, I don't think they will have a decent finish... I think you would have to have them blasted and powder coated to make them look decent.

Just gently pry em off with a screwdriver - slowly work around the edge popping the plastic clip tabs.

    Normal stock steelies underneath.

If ur just gonna throw em away once off like i did, no need to be so gentle. Takes 2 secs

There are no clips... If these are like mine, it is a "chrome clad" wheel. The chromed plastic skin is bonded to the wheel. Not held on by clips, lug nuts, or the like.

Mine were cheap plastic skins. Attached by several clips.
Look exactly the same as OPs.

I dont believe mine has an adhesive to hold it on. When yours came off were they damaged or were they in good shape?

I think i broke maybe a tab or two. But i was kinda hasty. Id say take it slow, do it in the warm sun and maybe spray a little wd40...give it some lube love

My wheels are a little bit different... maybe because my truck has the TRD Off Road package? I just know that the dealer told me that they weren't made to be removable, and other threads on here confirm that. I tried prying them off and the edge is loose, but they won't budge around each of the spokes.
