A lot of the videos and pictures I found talk about a castle nut. My front end does not have a castle nut.

The rest of the videos and pictures show 4 bolts that hold the wheel bearing housing in place. My truck does not have 4 bolts.

I am going to guess I take the arms loose and then take the brake housing off?

Are these bearings supposed to be pressed in?

Don't guess. Get a repair manual.
No experience here, but from what I've read, the bearing is pressed in, and its a real booger to get out.

The photos you've shown are of a manual locking front hub. I was not aware that 1999 Tacomas had manual locking front hubs. My 1998 does not.

The truck was bought used and I do not know what the previous owner did to it.

ADD was an option (over manual hubs) up to 2000. Beginning in 2001, manual hubs were dropped completely.

I own a 2004 Tacoma 4x4 and was wondering the same thing and I found out mine need to be pressed so I haven't decided my approach yet. They are fine and not giving me any problems. I have 231,000 on my 3.4V6 and have replaced just about everything except the bearings. I am sure just like the brakes you will either hear something or feel a vibration letting you know it's time!
