How do I stop the beeps when I lock or unlock my Taco?

My truck does not beep. Can I do this to get it to beep?

 

I used the instructions above to turn off the beeps, but didnt like it. There was no audible confirmation of the lock... I need something audible. So I turned them back on and just stuck a small earplug in the beeper speaker hole.. Much better! I could use it slightly louder so I'll experiment with other mufflers to stick in there.

 

it's not that I don't mind the beep...i lock it even in the garage and when I leave in the morning, the beep wakes the wife...

 

I have done a few mods already (ie mud flap trimming, anti-theft tailgate lock ect.) So today I thought hey why not investigate the beeping a little more.. I read what you guys had done. I had tried to reprogram with the remote and everything however no matter how many times I tried.. It never worked. So I figured why not investigate what really makes the sound... inside the box has two wires ( red and back) I accidently disconnected the two wires and had to reconnect the "box" to the wires and no sound... this accidental removing wire mod works.. for good

 

did you try hitting the button twice (quickly). I kept missing this step and only pressing it once. came back later, re-read, and figured it out.

 

I tried and tried but lil too late now.. its ok though if i ever want it back it is fixable, just have to solder a little.

i’m with some i would kinda like it. i don’t think it’s that load really. my cousin has a ’09 trd sport pre runner and it does it. some times if i’m walking away idk if i locked it or not, or if i unlock it. i bitch pull some times because i think i unlocked it when i did not.

 

For those of you having trouble doing this, look at page 5, there is a picture of the piezo buzzer inside the engine compartment. People are saying remove it, put tape on it, and put it back in... why not just unplug it and leave it be?? or unplug it, take the buzzer off (little plastic tab unclicks) and throw it in your glove box or something. Skip the tape thing, just unplug it. It located inside the engine compartment, driver side, behind the radiator, towards the top. Just look at the pics.

 

Depends on whether you want it quieter, or silent. Tape or an expanding foam earplug will make it quieter, but still audible from a short distance.

 

Thanks for looking back ... I sit here and scratch my head about all this ... just remove the damn thing if you want to sound to disappear ...

 

Thanks for the video. This solves the problem on this thread, but doesnt seem to be fully appreciated. Why remove the buzzer when this does easy re-program does it???!!!

Your welcome guys, yea not sure why anyone would wanna be cutting wires or removing parts if not necessary.

I actually didnt like it silent so I did the procedure again to turn the beep back on cuz I found myself looking back every time I locked the truck to make sure it locked

 

Tried this myself today after reading how, took 2 attempts but worked on the second and beeps are gone and I love it.

I just shoved a earplug in the hole on the front of the part. I still wanted to hear the beep, just didnt want it to beep loud.

 

I guess the guy before me already done this. Mine never beeped. It had a aftermarket clicker. The center I thought was the alarm, turned out to be a remote starter

 

Good video. The owners manual says to go to the dealership. Just saved me a trip!

 

2008 and prior did not beep unless you had an alarm installed so I did this mod to make it beep on locking. There aren't any pictures anymore but it gives a beep on lock-only.

You might want to verify the colors of the wire before splicing as it may have changed.
