How do I stop the beeps when I lock or unlock my Taco?

Long ago, I went through the steps to disable the lock/unlock beeps. I seem to remember having to open and close my driver door many times throughout that process, but the steps outlined in the video are familiar too. Everything was fine and dandy until doing the DTRL toggle switch mod, disconnecting the battery in the process. That restored the BEEPS to factory settings, so now I'm trying to disable them all over again.

Trouble is, the steps outlined above aren't working now. Is anyone aware of another process for disabling? Or can anyone think of something I might have done during the DTRL mod that would prevent this procedure from working now? Or something I'm doing wrong now (I'm following the steps EXACTLY)?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

I should add, I'm not interested in muffling the noise or cutting the wire. I'd rather be able to revert back if/when I sell the vehicle.

I called my local dealer, and they confirmed the steps are correct. WTF?!

No beeps necessary. My truck is unlocked a lot of the time, and the beeps are disruptive to those nearby, IMO. Lights provide confirmation of lock/unlock, and I can usually hear the locks anyway...but as of now, I'm stuck with it!

It worked on my '13. Make sure you press the button on your remote twice. We you do you will hear a beep. I had the driver's door open when I did this.

The lights still flash which is all you need. So glad the beep is gone.

This worked on my 2014 Tacoma (though no answer back beep after 10 seconds (step 3)). Thanks for the post, dealer wanted hour 2 hour appointment to flip a bit, very disappointing. Toyota should put these instructions back in the manual.

2014 TRD OR DC, didn't work for me and I tried it a million times. The little piezo beeper is located right in front of the battery though and is hooked up with a wiring harness. I just popped that bugger off and wrapped the leads in plastic. It can all be put back easily. Done forever now.

My 13' came with a KARR alarm system which had a loud obnoxious horn beep whenever you enabled/disabled it. I managed to bypass that to just get the regular beep now. I wonder if I can bypass that as well, or if it will screw up my alarm system

The video doesn't work anymore (says it's private) but I'll go try out this mod in a little bit... been expressing my hate for the stock alarm beeps/honks quite a bit lately to the wife

See my post right above. Takes 30 seconds and is completely reversible.

Gotcha. Yeah I tried a few times in the truck but it didn't work... I'll probably be going the same route soon

I wish mine beeped louder! It's how I always find my car in the parking lot.

Wouldn't be too hard to find a louder buzzer and replace the stock one. It's a simple piezo.

I did this mod months ago but just a reminder to make sure you locks your doors for certain. Not hearing the beep as confirmation is nice but can be a downfall. I got home one night and hit the lock botton 40 ft from the truck assuming it was locked. The next morning I got in my truck to head to work and it was ransacked. Had a bunch of items stolen and they made a huge mess. So now when I get out of my truck I use the manual button on the door to insure the truck is locked.

2013 is softer than 2009. Sometimes I barely hear it. I would be happy is I could get all 4 to unlock at one push of the button.

I did this the other day on my 2013..., much better.

Anyone know if there is a way to disable the "feature" where you hit the unlock button but don't open the door and it reverts back to locked after 10 seconds or so? That one is very annoying.

Also interested in having the unlock button unlock all doors on the first tap if anyone has instructions on that.
