Hi, like many I have a 2011 Tacoma with the newer white speedometer, tachometer, gas and temerature gauges and I prefer the look of the gauges used on Tacoma between 05-10 that were black and lit up orange at night. How hard would it be to change them out myself? If anyone has tried this or knows how please tell me.

should be pretty easy, I dont think there is any differences in how they hook up. and I bet a member would be willing to straight up trade.

I'm in Stockton and I would trade straight across for my OEM black/orange guages if it was all plug and play. PM me if you are interested.

For the record, even 2011s build before Dec 2010 had the old style red gauges.

i would be switching that up too!! i didnt even know they changed it in 2011 but the old gauges looks more uniform to the other interior lights. I dont want a bright white speedo/tach staring me down at night.

Changing out the instrument cluster is within the skillset of the "normal" TW member.

But no one has done the investigation yet to see if the "old" and "new" clusters are pin-for-pin compatible yet. So you'd be breaking new ground here.

Also, if you swap clusters with another member, he's going to get your odometer, and you're going to get his. Specialty electronic speedo shops can change that for you, at a cost of around $150 each IIRC. Those old school shops with 20,000 gauges, gears, and needles in the back are great, but they won't be able to do a thing for you here.

never said i was the only tw member to remove a cluster, brah.

and i wasnt talking about exchanging the whole cluster....just the plastic with the numbers...the film that goes on top of the led lights...maybe thats interchangable...
