How do I tell if a Tacoma has the factory towing package?

This is how my 2012 TRD Sport is set up. Called the dealer to confirm factory tow package.

Owners manual says either 120A or 140A fuse, I’m assuming on your package.

    Trans cooler

Oil cooler, you’ll see the lines routed near where the upper radiator hose attaches to block.

    Round connector

This is how my hitch is bolted to the frame.

Hope this helps. I was searching because I’m looking to buy a boat and I want to know what I’m capable of towing.

Some of the other things like the pink fan clutch and the 27F battery my truck also has but not sure if they are guaranteed to prove you have a towing package.

All of those photos are parts that are part of the factory tow package (not sure about the 4 pin adaptor you have stuck in your 7 pin trailer light socket), and would not be present on trucks without the tow package.

For those wondering what "packages" they have, no need to go to the dealer, just go to the Toyota Owners web site and plug in your VIN.
It will have everything listed including packages, OG window sticker, Maintenance records, recalls etc.
    It's actually quite useful.

    Thanks Masterz

Now I also know that whoever owned it before me put the wrong battery type into it 2 years ago. They put a 24f instead of a 27f. Wonder if that is why i sometimes have iasues starting it up in the heat.

I wonder if the transmission cooler and oil cool extend the life of the motor and transmission? I would guess it would in hotter climates.

Sometimes overlooked is that the factory tow package also includes the Class IV hitch itself, so it's really a bargain at $650 (2014) considering all it includes. Not positive about this, but I think it also adds a wire connector/live connector for a trailer-brake controller. From the sticker:

    [TO] V6 Tow Package $650
    Class IV Towing Receiver Hitch
Transmission Oil Cooler (Automatic Transmission only)
    Engine Oil Cooler
    Heavy Duty Battery
    130 Amp Alternator
    7-Pin Connector with Converter
    Electronic Trailer Sway Control
