    Ill be honest, a combo of cash and credit - only 0% apr cards though and I always pay off in full before the intro apr is over. Probably not the best move but it allows me to get what I want while I pay for it.. I am not ashamed the least bit, I pay for all of it eventually and I get to build MY rig. #teacherlife

    Another tip for reals;
    Get in on group buys, and scour the classifieds for used parts. Those combos alone have saved me a ton over full price retail.

    In all seriousness, I just save whatever I can. I still have my checking/savings accounts from before I got married and opened our joint checking/savings accounts. I periodically stash money into them. I'll pull $100 from the ATM for the week and whatever I have left I deposit into one of my old accounts. We also have very little debt and don't plan on having kids.

    Just do what you can to pinch pennies and you'll see how quickly they'll add up.

    Also find a jiggle hut and get a part-time. Cash is king, fuck the IRS.

    EDIT: If you're with the IRS, my recent filing was accurate. I earn no tips because I am terrible at customer service. :luvya:

    Yea but your hardly the rule. You have thousands of dollars of tools available that most people simply do not have access to.

    Like literally the definition of those reddit diy posts where people are like I made this and all you need is some metal stock, elbow grease, a degree in electrical engineering and this full machine shop that my brother owns.

    I've looked into the 0% APR cards as well. No interest for 18 months could be very useful. but yea i figured just saving overtime would be the best bet. Just get excited seeing all these badass rigs on here lol

    I’m 23 and have already had two long travel trucks and now a mid travel one. Just save. Also this is the only thing I spend money on besides rent/bills lol.

    I would recommend you take a look at reddit.com/r/personalfinance vehicles are terrible investments. Your young enough to be able to seriously help out your future self. By all means indulge but also make sure your setting yourself up for success.

    I sold both of them, and since I did all the of work myself I wasn’t out much, especially for what they sold for.
    My 1997 tacoma with 250k miles sold for 18k cash
    Bought a nearly stock 08 and did a mid travel kit and that as far as that’s going. I’m focusing on my career and saving for a house.

    I never did it for the investment

    For me it was a slow build. I got my truck in 2014. First mod was a tool box. A year later was ironman suspension. Another year was a flatbed (home made but the metal was ~$400). Then the next year was winch and winch bumper. I did little odd welding jobs between flying seasons, spent that on light bar, snorkel, fridge, now I am taking mods in a whole new direction and will be living out of my truck while in the sates for 6 months every year. You don't have to do it all at once.

    As far as getting flamed...it's an Internet forum....who gives a rats ass what these nerds think. Just like like that guy who answered "if you have to ask how much, you don't have enough". Screw that attitude. Mod as slow as you need man, I will wheel with you anytime you want.

    It also pays to have friends in skilled trades. A guy with a welder in his garage can be 2 cases of beer away from you having new sliders/bumper w/e. I wanna be that guy. :D Just have to get a garage and a welder first.
