I'm assuming the 3rd Gens have the same notches in the bed as the 2nd Gen. For sleeping in the bed like you noted in your OP, build a simple platform. You gain several inches of diagonal space as you're above the the wheel wells. I'm 5'10' and I sleep just fine in the back of mine.

I love this idea, and I am trying to find something like it/duplicate it!!! If you look in the description of the you tube video, @coylifut notes where he just made this himself, and does not produce them. Do you have a link for any other info he provided on it? If you come up with plans on how to make it, please share with me! Thanks

The notches seem to be designed to hold two 2x4's perfectly.

The guy who drags an apartment to the woods, mocking millenials complaining about bugs.

I bought a rtt because I dont need a trailer, im too old and lazy to pitch a tent, i can afford a rtt, its faster than a tent and i dig how they look.

    Ha! Awesome.

I'll admit to a case of camping crap creep syndrome. I used to take the wife, 2 kids, and dog camping in an Outback. We had room for all the stuff we needed and had fun. Now my daughter and I alone fill up the Outback and I got a Taco to have room for stuff. Not sure what happened.

I will say there is no way in hell I'm getting one of those stupid RTTs. I don't see the point. Need an air mattress? Those fit in tents too. Quick set up? Really? How quick do you need to set up? You're camping. Slow down and enjoy. Pitching a tent isn't that hard. Wind and rain add an element of excitement. And I'd like to actually be able to use the truck while camping to go exploring, fishing, whatever.

When I'm too old and decrepit to pitch a tent I'll just get a small trailer - one small enough to still get away from people because you'll also never catch me in a fucking RV park or crowded campground.

You're having trouble pitching a tent? I hear they make a pill for that...maybe you should look into it.

It's the third one of these I've done and I had a really good idea of how I wanted to build it in my head so I didn't need to draw it. More pictures here though.
