I was carefull driving it out of the dealer, but took it straight to the dirt once they were out of sight. It was my first 4x4 so i had to be sure everything worked like they said it would. Just like most, i try not to thrash it but I make sure i have my fun too.

I would treat it with the respect that any vehicle deserves, but I wouldn’t be worried about intense, bumpy offroading. After all, any truck I bought would be meant for it

Just bought my 2012 on saturday...went straight through some trails. I had a 2010 PreRunner that I sold earlier this year to get my wife an LR4, so I was curious how my new 4x4 would handle some mud. Turns out quite well, but I'm pretty sure these tires are going to be going away soon...

Truck had 500 miles on it... and it got about 3 feet of air. (Didn't see the rise in the road for the train tracks, doing about 60. Then hit the dirt with paper plates.

I know a guy that whenever he buys a new truck, he takes a big heavy chain with him to the dealership and throws it across the side of the bed.

He said the look on the salesmen's face is always priceless. :D

But it lets him use the truck like a truck. Makes since... I could never do it though...

Yep sliders! I wish I had the $$ to get skids :(

That was only the very last part of the ascend, one guy that had sliders on his 4runner managed to dend one of the doors on a rock. and some one else managed to dent in the gas tank on another trail on that same trip.

Nice runner by the way, did the front end sag noticeably with the ARB? Those things look beastly!

I bought my 06 new and honestly, I baby it now more than I ever did back then. I always had the mindset that it was a truck, and I was going to treat it like one. Now that we're closer, I show it a little more love...

There's been many times when there was something I wanted to do, but the thought of the consequences (broken bones, broken/expensive truck parts/being broke (no $$$)) made me hold back, then the "you only live once!" saying popped in my head and caution was thrown out the window.

    I haven't regretted a single one.

sometimes those moments are very far in between :(

This sounds extremely familiar. I just had one of those incidents. Fun as hell and put on a good show, but broke shit.
