How do you add an extra set of blinkers turn signal mod to the wire harness?

I am wanting to add the turn signal mod BUT also keep the OEM turn signal in the lower front section.

The OEM blinker doesn’t give an side visibility and the turn signal mod gives limited head on visibility because of the surface area facing forwards.

Can a 2nd set of blinkers be just wired in, tapped into the original harness?
Will the current load be ok?
Fuse ?, will the relay blinker work? Or flash slower or faster?

Or would LED replacement bulbs work better with lower current and a different relay,.?

 

This might be tricky, as the turn-signal circuit has (I assume) a 'high resistance' check to let you know if you have a burned-out bulb; LEDs may solve the problem. You could also consider just tapping in to the trailer harness.

 

The most straightfoward way in my mind would be to go LEDs with an LED flasher, and then just wire in the second set to the original wiring. A quick google search says a 168 bulb takes 5 watts, while an LED is roughly 1 watt, so you should be good on current capacity.

 

What ever you want will work.

I have 6 lights all incandescent on one vehicle stock flasher

Another 4LED lights and two incandescent running the Napa NF -EP35L which works fine.

 

I am not sure if Colorado use liquid Brine or not That stuff gets into the best splices .

i use a mechanical crimp and solder with heat shrink .

Ended up adding LEDS to the rear and 4 incandescent orange bulbs up front so my marker lights and the stock blinker lights work together now with stock flasher.

I just tapped into the front blinker wire harness to add the 2nd blinkers.

 

dual amber front flashers rule, I did mine 16 years ago. finally went full lasfit leds last year.

 

I ordered a set of those Lasfit LED bulbs for the front, hopefully they work.
The normal LEDS dont work for the front

 

They didn’t work!!

 

I hear nothing but trouble for these LED bulbs.

My first try was my last I have no problem with LED lights

 

So, because of my truck having a trailer harness it’s probably causing issues for LEDS up front.

Im happy now with inconsistent, 4 bulbs for the front turn signals and 2 LEDS for the rear with the stock flasher.

 

As long as your happy is the bottom line

It should not I have 4 LED lights up Front to 1156 bulbs in the rear of the truck plus 2 more turn signal LED lights in the trailer .

All though the lower resistance in these new bulbs might be a problem.With the Flasher I use.
