I think I paid $110 for my 2 person Eureka back in 2011. Its been camped in quite a lot, but its also nice that it takes up almost no room when I'm not using it, I can just air it out and toss it in the back of the closet. And when it finally does give up the ghost, its cheap to replace. It also doesn't require that I bring my truck - I can take it on a motorcycle. Or put it in my backpack. I just can't wrap my head around the whole rtt tent thing, at least not for my use cases.

Like you said its also nice for not breaking camp - or for marking your spot. Pull in, throw it down in the spot you want, then hit the grocery store or whatever. Lots of strategic flexibility.

RTTs are a lot more comfortable when you’re camping in the parking lot at Walmart. :D

I tow a little military trailer that can handle anything the truck can off-road wise. Works well. 58940423105__65D99170-7AD3-4CE8-A114-9B89E236B973.jpg

I got a regular cab with a 6' bed. The wheelbase is shorter than a DCSB or an Access Cab long bed. Problem solved.

Had that one for 7 years now and yes it is basically free standing with spring poles and you can use it as a tent alone or hooked to the truck and you can unhook the straps that hold it to the truck and close the side up to take off for the day. Similar tents on autoanything.com still. Sure you can find these lots of places online. I used a foam pipe weather insulator to put on the shell rear window so it would not rip the tent when up and it just pushed on so easy on/off. My shell struts are pretty strong. Wish someone made a support rod to lock that window open at 90 degrees but never found on or thought of how to make one to easily work (bed to window) so in heavy rain or winds it would be secure/not vibrate or shake at all.

Pitch a tent? Seriously takes 5 minutes, costs $150 for a premium large, is mobile and you can make an ice/beer/hookers (according to “a friend”) Run without breaking camp.

It’s funny that people get so defensive about their choice of camping structure. They all have pros and cons. Certain styles of camping require different setups. A tent works great if you are backpacking or even hanging out at the local KOA for the week. If you are moving camp everyday, it sucks pulling out a bunch of stuff to setup a shelter. Other setups can be helpful and worthwhile. That said, I have 3 ground tents, a RTT and I occasionally sleep in the 5’ bed of my truck. They all work equally well depending of what my trip involves.

You beat me to it. This works wonders and only around $250 for the oversized version. I've had mine for three years and it's seen plenty of use. Off the ground and ideal for car camping. I have a real (light) tent for backpacking.

I appreciate seeing different modular setups. Looks good!

What kind of cooler is that, and how does it hold up on multi-day runs?

Haha, thats awesome. That sums up how the back of my truck looks when I go camping, thus no sleeping in the back for me.

    Whew, yeah. It's a struggle.

I used 1 big tote, 2 littles, my 65 quart RTIC, and some misc stuff. Had passenger, so had additional cooler and various other stuff.

    Can't wait for an RTT.

    Sure is!

My friends and I were on a time crunch and left the Friday before the Saturday of the meet up. I was so disappointed.

I did meet a few folks in San Antonio though.
