got tired of valve being coated with fine dust. made a cover out of waxed cotton duck.

propane tank mounted on swing gate has been the best for my set up. switched it out for one pound msr iso-butane cans now.

Is there an ELI5 for this?

Consensus seems to be 10-11lb is best. That 1lb doesn't last long, and likely costs more.
    I do see a few 6lb's though.
Some things only take 1lb, like small Heater Buddy. Not sure how fast it uses it.
So I assume you keep at least one 1lb bottle, for a device like that which only works with it.

But not dual burner stovetop, which I see people fuel with big tank.
Where do you get the hose accessories needed to connect the big tank to stovetop?

What's the best place and price to get 10-11lb?

    How is refilling?
Last time I had a big tank for a grill, you go to where has it (grocery store) and they trade it for another unit.
So I'm not sure how that works if it's an atypical size (10-11lb vs regular home grill 20) if they may have it, and the grocery store likely gets what they have in a cage delivered from somewhere else
Trying to imagine buying a tank for $50, putting some stickers on it, then being told no one can refill it or there's no matching tank to trade for what you own and personalized

That is a sexy looking setup. Love the grill on the swing out.

I used to just toss a 20lb tank in the bed. Fits perfectly under my bed cover. But that is big and bulky and too much for just me and my dogs. So I swapped it out for an 11lb with a Power Tank mount and put it on my swing out.

Works perfecty and its nicely placed for my cook table that I just built too, ha.

Was trying to kill off the little bottle before I switched over.

I like it. It packs up into a small thin profile that I can pop into my truck almost anywhere. Never had any issues cooking or keeping it lit. It does everything that I need it to do so far. I did try 3 other cooking setups and this is what I'm stuck on for now, ha.

that adventuretrailgear bag looks like a good idea. clean valve area much easier to use.

When I’m over landing everything is packed pretty tight in the bed but for extra security I have bungie cables

In my Tacoma, when I built the storage/sleeping (and level to the wheelwells for hauling 4x8 sheets) box into the bed I incorporated a couple of spots where I can mount a plywood "cradle" with eyebolts to strap a 20lb tank in with a ratchet strap. Sorry, no pics available at the moment but the cradle is just a 8"x18" flat piece with a couple pairs of angled fins mounted to it and eyebolts on either side in between the fins. That truck is a Prerunner though, and I've taken it out to Moab and some other places but it's more of a tailgating rig now.

For a "trail rig" I bought a 4th Gen V8 4Runner, and after my last trip where I skipped packing the skottle and fuel because I ran out of space for a 20lb tank, I picked up a 10 lb version from Amazon. That tank will probably just get packed in with the other gear in the back of the Runner when I take it out for now, or just stashed in the trasharoo. At some point I'll be upgrading the roof rack (leaning toward Gobi at the moment but I've got a Prinsu on the Tacoma and like it fine as well) with a ladder at which point I might consider putting a bracket on that if I can figure out how to not block either the back window or the new license plate location (moved it to the side of the gate to get it clear of the tire swing out).
