I just put a deposit down on a TRD OR 4x4. I'm kinda having remorse and I wonder if the 2000 over the SR5 is worth it (locker but smaller rear end). There are people that love their TRD OR but I don't know if all the electronics example: VSC, ATRAC are going to piss me off. Then agian I can save 2000 and put it towards modding an SR5. I'm really only getting the TRD for the E locker. So how do TRD owners feel about the capabilities, and do SR5 owners ever wish they had the TRD OR. Do the Electronics on the TRD OR's piss you off? I plan on wheeling the truck but I'm not sure how hard, definitly nothing super brutal where I have the chance off blowing up a rear end. I do want to do some faster trails. I really feel like I'm making this harder than it needs too be but, I'm making the deal from over seas. Thanks-Jared

Shouldn't be any reason why ATRAC will piss you off as you select when it is on or not

VSC / ABS / TRAC are in all Tacomas so no getting around that by getting a different model

I've done a little reading and it seems like the traction control and ABS piss a few people off. I have never dealt with it so I have no idea. I'm lifting and going mid travel I don't want the electronics to piss me off.

EDIT: Thanks for clearing that up but I would still like to get a few more opinions. I know an opinion is like an asshole and everyone has them, I want to hear people’s experiences with the E locker.

I love it, had an 05 SR5 a 2011 TRD Sport and 2013 TRD Offraod and the offraod is by far the best of them all, I love atrac and the locker and it has come in handy a few times and atrac got me unstuck. The people who say its a smaller rear end and worthless are crazy it may be .4 in smaller but doesnt mean its weaker.

The only one that pisses me off is the VSC and like OZ said it's standard on all models. It can be disabled though. I personally love my OR and wouldn't go back.

Thats is my feelings I know that .4 inches will come in handy with gears and 35's but Idk if im ever going to go that route for sure 33's and midtravel.

It feels better to know that VSC is on all and it can be disabled. I'm glad OZ cleared that up.

I am also very happy with my OR, although the bed is a little small.

I'll take the shorter bed over the wheel base of the DCLB any day.

Really depends on what you use your truck for

Agreed. I bought mine as a DD and off-road toy. I hardly ever fill the bed so for me, it works. If I really need to do some hauling I've got a trailer. All I know is on the trails near my house, the DCLB just would not cut it. But to each his own. Oh and DCSB FTMFW! :p

x2 on what you use the truck for but, when I had my AC cab all I wanted was a DB cab SB as long as I can a qaud which I'm positive mine will fit so that doesn't bother me

If there was a DCLB Offroad or a locker option for the DCLB Sport or SR5 I would be driving it , but the midget bed was a deal breaker for how I use my truck

I love my ’07 OR! VSC pisses me off some times, but it’s not very often so i can deal with it till i do the bypass.

Yes! DCLB with skewp and locker would have been very tempting! To be honest though I wanted an AC OR but couldn't find one in auto.:anonymous: In hindsight though I'm pleased with the DCSB and wouldn't change a thing.

well i think it’s the vsc. maybe the abs or some shit idk. it pulses when braking in snow or off road. and makes it take longer to stop in those conditions.

I too am glad I went with the OR. I don't see ring size being an issue unless you gear really low and have larger tires.
