Settling a debate - tortilla flipping

In our household, whether it's my current one, or the one I grew up in, we all flipped our tortillas with our bare hands.

Even quesadillas or other odds and ends.

If you used anything but your hands, you were cast out like the heathen you are.

Recently, I've come to find out I don't really know someone like I thought I did; he used a spatula :(

Bro, hands. Who used a spatula?

And you have to spin it a little, obviously. Makes it taste better..

Is it acceptable to use tongs if you're heating them in oil? :luvya:

You did introduce a variable though, one that doesn't apply here though.

    Spatula or a turner? There’s a big difference…

When I'm making burritos in bulk for the freezer I'll microwave flour tortillas with a damp paper towel :luvya:

    For immediate consumption? Nah

    Hmmmmm

I was taught to warm corn tortillas in oil to rehydrate them and keep them from cracking

    A bunch..and no build thread!
The only excuse for using tongs or a spatula are if they are part of your prosthetic arm after you lost your hands in a horrible culinary accident. Other than that, use your god damned hands.
