How do you know which alternator your truck came with stock?

I’ve seen ppl say that with tow package you also get the upgraded 130 amp alternator and I’ve read ppl say this isn’t the case. I’ve researched and can’t seem to find the answer. Any help is appreciated

 

I believe the Tow Package became Standard Equipment on V6 in 2018. The 130 Amp Alternator was part of that option on my truck in 2017.

 

For the 2017, there are 2 alternators according to Bam Wholesale. I have the tow package and I believe I have the 130 amp alternator.

 

Look at your alternator and look up the part number on it.

 

Yeah mine has a 120jb alt fuse and the 140 alt fuse. Do you just take the average of the two? Sorry I’m not bright at this. Why I’m asking

So you have a 120 amp fuse at top and a 140 amp fuse on the bottom like the picture to the right. It would seem you have the 130 amp alternator.

 

Correct. So you just average the two fuses and that gives you your alt amperage? Thanks

 

Did your truck come with the Tow Package?

 

@caribe makaira is showing the alternator fuse in the fuse box. What the other fuse does I am not sure.

Just for future reference, you should never see an electrical circuit protected by 2 fuses. It splits the amperage between the fuses and doesn't properly protect it. Also could cause a problem if working on it and you only remove one fuse with the other fuse still in place.

 

Here is the window sticker from my truck and you can see it listed in with the tow package.
