you guys realize this is one big public thread of easily identifiable modified Tacoma's admitting to keeping guns locked in them while parked? Half of you have your city in your profile.

and if half of you are convinced that there is so much crime you need to carry everywhere you go, seems like making yourself an obvious target is kind of self-defeating

I’m curious about this. In your opinion, how does carrying a firearm make you a target for crime? I think it seems obvious that it would deter potential criminals from targeting you. But I’m curious about your thoughts.

It's not the carrying that i think makes you a target, its the fact that anyone with an internet connection can find this thread and ID a vehicle in their area that they can be reasonably sure has a firearm locked inside it to steal.

ALSO, we did get off the topic. Probably my fault, sorry. It just lights my fire about gun rights with people that think they know something about the topic that know NOTHING.. rant over sorry... We will talk about tacos now.

I really don't want to get into the debate on gun rights -- this is not the forum for it. And, no one is going to listen to any of the evidence and adjust their point of view anyway, on either side.

But you may want to do some actual / factual research on what happened with the NRA. There are chapters of the NRA in the Catskills that do nothing but host gun safety and education classes for people and those are well attended by people from all walks of life and political perspectives. I know because I have been to them. But the larger NRA organization is under investigation for serious fraud and breaking the law in many ways. This will play out in the courts as it should But it is much deeper and far more serious than some weak comment about NYC.

But let's move on ... posts on how to lock your gun in your car perfectly acceptable here. Posts on your political views on the Second Amendment and the political sniping adds no value to anyone. By all means carry, if you are so inclined. I think the posts here were focused on how to carry and lock safely. There is value in finding out what other folks are doing in that regard.

I don’t see how that equates to making someone a target.

Based solely on 60 seconds of looking at your posts, you have a mgm sport in SoCal with power steps, power steps are a pretty rare mod. Talking about how you secure a weapon in a vehicle on an open forum can make you a target for theft.

Considering I parked next to 2 silver 3rd gens at lunch. I have little fear of my truck being unique.

Still doesn’t leave me open to anything. Did I install the steps or just buy them? Doesn’t specify do I live in a house or gated community or do I park in a garage. Do I go to work or work from home. Do I mostly carry on myself Etc etc. I am not paranoid like some. If someone takes my stuff. I’ll be fine. I don’t worry about little things like that

Maple syrup from Canada is awesome. I have a big jug in my fridge, but not in a gun.

I know your pain, 2 of the 3 adjacent states I can't carry and they have dangerous cities I would feel so much more comfortable in if I was carrying... (Chicago and Minneapolis)

Well, I'm an immigrant so I don't quite get it myself but to be honest we are all nice. My wife is a Canadian born and yes they are nice and sometimes too damn polite :D. You guys down south are no different like I said. More or less Americans and Canadians are like brothers and sisters really!, I have been to Montana and California (yes, very different states) but it feels no that much different than being in Canada. Now I have been living in Canada since the late, mid eighties...a former defector from Eastern European country of Romania and you can't even imagine how differently we were brought up compared to the north American people, so now I'm nice too:D:canada:!
