I've always backed-in, reversed-in -- however you want to call it -- when it comes to parking, and it seems to be a common practice among truck owners.

For me, it's about safety and the ease in which to exit the parking spot. I can edge out and check for cross-traffic, pedestrians, etc., and it's a heck of a lot easier to drive straight out instead of the typical reverse-drive-reverse-drive process.

Just wondering why some of you guys prefer this method. Pin this as a "dumb thread" if you wish. :D

And quite frankly, I'm better at backing into a parking space than the other way around. Haha.

NOTE: For non-angled spots only. Or for those that don't say "head in parking only."

*UPDATE*: Sorry to bump an old post that I made, but my co-workers are giving me a hard time about how I always back into spots whenever possible. Maybe they're just jealous? :) Anyone else get called out for how they park? I know us Tacoma owners (and truck owners as a whole) tend to back in more than pull in.

I park front in. Generally I park far away from other vehicles so it doesnt really matter that I have to back out.

Do you guys not have too many parking lots with angled parking? A lot of parking lots here are angled and the only way your backing a truck in is if you go down the isle the wrong way

shouldn't you back diagonal into the stall ? (and maybe with one tire on the curb)
...so you net less door dings and look muy macho

or is this just so yer first out the starting gate...
and to hell with the other street dorks.

In some places it is posted that vehicles must enter a stall facing forward.
I'm purdy sure trucks are exempt tho'

    'least I participated before I pin it ! :D

I back in at work so I can leave expeditiously. :D Agree with JD on the angled spaces, sometimes you got to pull in nose first.

I back in or pull through at work so I can get out quick. Sometimes I back up to poles and such to lessen the chance of someone breaking into my cap. At the grocery store I have to pull in so I can get into the back with groceries. But we usually take the wifes care to the grocery store.
