We camp and fish...so I like my gear to still be there when I return. Not to mention that I love the look of it too.

The DA decides if the written laws will be prosecuted or not. He can choose not to enforce the laws.

Solution is to build more prison and elect officials who'll protect law abiding citizens by locking up criminals. The penalty has to exceed the reward before crime will go back down. Seems in many places the criminal has more rights than the victim.

Yeah, that sort of thing. In the Pacific Northwest (which I frequent), even trailheads are not secure. Haven't heard of trailheads breakins in the rest of the west.

Of course, when I come back home, I can haul my precious gear back into my apartment or storage unit. But there's a need for some security on-the-go and at trailheads and such. This is the cap my local dealer pointed me to when I mentioned that I want something that secures my stuff left inside. But obviously, he pointed out that it's not impenetrable (nothing is), just that it's harder to get into. I can't deny that it looks amazing.

I think a cap like this, and a lock box might do me good. I like that it has a side access hatch.

Just a little over a year.

No tonneau is waterproof but the MX Pro handled rain better than i anticipated given its aluminum slats and being retractable. Regular rain/t-storms, car washes, etc., no problem. On two occasions I’ve had a little water intrusion by the tailgate on the passenger side. On both occasions we got crushed by storms with really heavy rain and high winds over prolonged periods, one of which was the remnants of hurricane IDA.

Same here brother, I'm up in Alberta Canada and I like to buy quality hear. Ofcourse nothing can stop a determined thief but things that are out of sight are also out of mind. I initially thought of getting the RSI Smartcap Evo Sport, gotta admit those side windows look cool...but I need something with less glass so I chose the Adventure model. And yes, those side doors are large, you can easily grab whatever you want from back there...and I have to mention again about the look...it's great!

Trailhead breakins happen all over the place. Any place where people know cars are going to be left for a while are subject to these problems.

Had my backpack ripped from the trunk of a locked car. They went in by breaking a rear passenger window and going in through the back seat. In broad daylight and lots of people around.

Unfortunately you don't have to be in the ghetto to be ripped off nowadays.

Well, by this metric, some urban areas are all ghetto! I won't name which ones.

Don’t sweat short stops like that. I and every serious bicyclist I know leave our $1-7k bicycles untended and unlocked outside the convenience store and coffee shop on a regular basis. I try to leave it in sight outside a window if possible.

Yeah, I really liked that in my sedan, you couldn't do this. You'd have to rip through the back seat or saw something to fold the back seats without trunk access. The release lever is in the trunk.

How I secure my truck in urban areas is I don't take my truck to urban areas. That's what the shitbox is for.

If I'm traveling through somewhere for a camping trip, I have everything locked up and I park where I can see the truck, I don't leave it unattended for more than a few minutes.

Always be aware before you get out of your truck and also immediately after. I got followed into a gas station a few months ago in the middle of the night - noticed they were acting strange and trying to stay out of my line of sight, pretty clear carjacking prep. Noped the fuck out of there. "urban" areas are going to shit. Be careful when and where you take your truck.

Brand new on this forum and just picked up my 2016 yesterday. I've been reading through a bunch of threads and I want to put in the power tailgate lock module. I've unlocked my tailgate twice with the key and am tired of it already. Can anyone confirm or deny if this will work on a '16? I'm not new to modding vehicles but new to the Tacoma world. Thanks in advance!
