How do you secure stuff in your truck in urban areas?

Got the Tailgate security device from Chris- seems like it will serve as a great deterrent. Hopefully it just causes any would be thieves to move on to something that takes less effort...

The real solution, especially penalty exceeding reward (and penalty being more stringently enforced, even in first time cases).

I've long said the problem with the legal system in general is it favors the people who are the cause of the problems.

 

Why do we incarerate more people than the majority of industrialized nations? Maybe our current system isn't working and yet you want to lock up more people?

I'm not saying incarceration is the answer. The lower level penalties need to be enforced more versus slaps on the wrist, which perhaps would be a deterrent to that which would land one in prison.

Moreso, a general lack of real consequences. As someone already said, the reward of getting the item is more than the potential risks of apprehension.

 

I don't leave shit in my Taco. It just attracts the wrong crowd. Bad enough they want the Taco.

If they see something they like, they will break into your truck. Why give them that???

 

Why accept it? Why can't you leave stuff in your truck? Maybe a good beat down instead of jail but some here would probably object to that also.

 

We already tried that with the war on drugs and locking up non-violent offenders. It didn’t stop people taking drugs.

Not sure if any of you have seen or used a Pacsafe product. I think there are a few other brands that make similar products.
I keep one of the Pacsafe Portable Safes in the cab of my truck. If I'm worried about it, I throw what I want to secure in a small black duffel, put the duffel in the Portable Safe which I then secure to the hardware under the drivers seat. Again a determined thief can get into anything with the right tools. This is just another layer to make it more difficult for them...

I literally just lock the doors........ I have a tonneau cover........ if they really want stuff they will get it. It is what it is
