    Put your left foot out
    Put your left foot in
Put your left foot out, and you shake it all about
Slide your buttcheek out, and pull your right leg out
    That's what it's all about.

@bacon_st , @CaptainBart45 stated the same thing I found both with my old taco and this one. That in general runing boards, step bars, side steps, and sliders all create more of an obstacle than an aide to entry and exit. Normally they are not mounted far enough from the floor height, damn near the same height in many cases, to offer any real assistance. If you are able to step on the running board/step bar/blah/blah then you could have just stepped into the cab. For most young folks that is out weighed by the protection and style they offer. For those with some sort of hiderance, be it height, injury, or physical challenges the hinderence to entry tips the scales the other way.

For me, slightly vertically challenged, even the stock height Taco is not a comfortable or easy entry and exit. I also have a reconstructed left ankle, reason for an auto rather than MT, and right foot that make it more of a challenge. My solution was to "throw money at the problem".

I bought and installed AMP power steps within about 10 days of buying my 17. They automatically drop 8-10 inches from thier resting position against the lower rocker panel like a slider when you open a door on that side of the cab. The install was a bit of a PITA, but I love the steps and more importantly so does my wife. She also has made the comment that tehy were "well worth every friggin penny".
Happy wife = Happy life :amen:

Getting in the truck is a lot like sitting on a staircase. Step up with foot 1, reposition it toes point towards the headlight, swing foot 2 behind leg attached to foot 1 and in as you pivot swinging your hips in and butt onto the seat.

To get out, put foot 1 out onto step, put hand on A pillar for balance, step up with head out of cap while swinging foot 2 behind leg of foot 1, pivot swing up and out hips with foot 2, continue swingin foot 2 out as you step tothe ground. You are now facing the truck as if you are about to enter, no jarring, sliding, jumping, ok a little twisting, and you are out and standing on the ground. not much different than navigating a porch step.

Check them out it may solve all your issues.

I found this to be true for every vehicle that I have tried to get into that had running boards.

A neighbor had a set of the powered ones on his F-350 'dozer. They were pretty cool, esp how high his was lifted.

You had it wrong though... up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a, select, start... just in case you were trying for a half hour and still couldn't get out of your truck.

I'm 5'1" so I just turn left and slide down off the seat until I land (hopefully upright)! Don't even use the steps in OR out!

I cringe thinking about people just sliding down and out of the truck. That poor bolster.

And regarding Toyota and the seat fabric, I’ve heard of one owner having their seat covers replaced but their wear was pretty bad. When I took mine in, they said it was “normal wear” but it’s on file and the guy gave me a Toyota RAS number

This is funny, as I was having a similar thought recently. I'm 2nd gen, so I do have the factory handle, but my sliders just arrived in town and I realized the easy entry/exit may change. I'm 6'2", so normally this isn't an issue, but if now the path to pavement is several inches out from the edge of the sill it's going to change things to some extent. Additionally, I was going to Line-X the sliders, which means my suit slacks will not slide on the metal.

Both of you guys are wrong. U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,B,A,B,A,Select,Start is the correct code for the driver and a passenger, each good for 30 exits not infinite. If traveling alone, then omit the Select.

But as for this thread, I think that Toyota effed up by omitting the driver-side grab bar. Stupid.

stock at this time, would like a quality suspension leveling lift, performance exhaust system, offroad tires, off road lights ect....
Speaking about handles...has anyone mounted a second handle on the passenger side? My wife has a hard time entering my Tacoma and if a handle was located on the top inside of the cab it would help ?

Do you have a rack? I have’nt done it with mine as I mentioned a long time ago here, but I thought about adding a handle to my Prinsu. Since then I got sliders, and we get in and out the same way you do on a horse.
