How do you study? (college)

Why'd you leave after 2 years?

 

Chem/Enviro Engineering undergrad here in my final year:

To get that "A" requires a LOT of studying and practice:
-Before class, read the section that will be covered in that days lecture.
-Pay attention in class, take good notes.
-After class, rewrite the notes you took and then reread the section again.
-Start homework the day it was assigned and finish it early. Once finished, do the recommended, but not necessary problems, then do more problems on your own.
-Reread your notes.

Getting that "B" like above but minus the rereading the section, and doing your own problems, but still doing the recommended problems.

Getting that "C" is just doing the necessities. Reading before lecture, Taking notes in class. Assigned problems. Maybe rereading. No rewriting notes. No recommended problems. No rereading.

Getting that "D" is occasionally taking the notes in class. Rushing to finish the homework.

This has been my experience and what was need to get the grade at my university's chem engineering program.

Also, learning on your own is really difficult. Make the time to go to office hours and have study groups. You really need to have someone show you what to do. You can't learn it all on your own.

I left because I had some good Buisness opportunities come up. School is great, don't get me wrong, I just had other paths to take that have been good. Would be fun to finish sometime just because.

Unless you don't like people this is really great advice. Also, it will help you prepare for bigger group projects where you have to work in teams, and later in the workforce where you may be part of a project team.

I like the breakdown... its true for engineering-related programs.

Always take notes on stuff that the teacher wrote on the board, there is a reason he decided to emphasize that.
