How do you take this off??

ok so i hate seeing dealer badging on any car its like free advertisement for them and it bugs me. so does anyone know how to take it off with out messin up the paint????

i took a picture incase you guys didnt understand what i was talkin about. but its the white "American Toyota"

 

Pic isn't working, but if it's an actual badge like the Tacoma and V6 SRG and what not on there, then just heat it up, and peel it off with fishing wire, or a putty knife, if it's vinyl lettering or whatever it is they use, just scratch it off...

 

ya im pretty sure its that vinyl crap i wasn to just scratch it off just dont want to eff up the paint under.

 

Use a hair dryer.

 

just scratch it off then.. it doesn't mess up your paint.

 

yea, my girl's mazda had that vinyl crap on the car that said "south motors mazda" and i just used my finger nail to peel it off, didnt mess up the paint at all...can never tell it was even there...

No matter how you do it, just make sure you clean the area really good before you start.

 

You can still heat it up if it's vinyl. May make it easier. That's what I've always done so I don't really have to scratch it off. Just lift part of it and pull. Unless of course it's not a one piece decal. Depending on how long it was on, you'll be able to still read the outline on the paint for awhile til it gets a good wash/wax over it.

 

yeah just use the fingernail method and some bug and tar remover to get rid of the adhesive. It wont hurt anything

 

I took mine off with a hair dryer and old wooden spatula that we didnt need anymore, sharpened the edge, and scraped away. The wood wont hurt the paint so you can go town with that badge!

 

hairdyer + dental floss + goo gone = WIN.

 

Use an old credit card or a plastic razor blade (yes, they make them just for this application). Vinegar to get off any left over adhesive.

 

If you use any chemical to get the residue off (I have used goo gone, as several others have suggested) make sure you rise the area thoroughly when you are done.

 

haha alright awesome guys ill do the fingernail method just wanted to make sure i wasnt gonna mess up the paint.

 

Please try the heat gun first, a fingernail can scratch your clear coat. WD 40 will take off any glue residue. I took my dealer sticker off with a heat gun with no problem, just don't torch it.

HAIR DRYER not a heat gun.

 

My heat gun worked fine, like I said don't torch it................I should say..."Warm it up".............Also my heat gun is mine, The hair dryer is my wife's, ................Don't let your wife find her hair dryer laying around out in the garage.

I agree. Then follow it up with WD-40 or Goo Gone to get rid of any remaining adhesive.
