    I bought it off ebay for $100, but shipping turned out to be $50. Here in Ontario these things run around $180 plus 13% tax.

    He may get a fabricated 2x12 and some kind of bracket to lock it on the tailgate then.
    2x12x8=12.97
    bracket=whatever i can think up.
    Or a taller dog.

    Me too! Its required in Germany actualy. In the states though....My Buddy chills in the Bed tethered by a leash clipped to the middle of a rope that goes from Driver to passenger side of bed. Another thing I just did recently: German winter is nasty sometimes and god forbid if a German spots your dog in a kennel in the bed of your truck when its below 90deg F outside :cool:
    Anyway, I bought one of those furniture blankets for dogs, the thick one that protects your couch variouse degrees of Dog damage...(get at Costco)
    Then here in Germany I went to a hardware store and got a box of the metal eyelets that you find in a tarp usualy. Measured out the distance between headrest posts on the back seat, poked holes in the blanket and installed the eyelets. Blanket goes over the back seat, headrest posts go through the eyelets and into the seat and there you have it. Back seat dog protection that stays in place. Works great!

    I removed the back seats, head rests and storage bin from my access cab, built a platform and covered it with indoor/outdoor carpet. I throw a dog pad down and she is good to go. Plenty of room for her, or gear if she is not along. 60 pound female yellow lab.

    we use one for getting our 13 (give or take 2 years) old Yellow lab in and out sometimes, it depends on what we can find. the end of our drive way and the road form a dip and whenever my mother pulls her yukon rear wheels into it, it puts the floor of the back about a foot or so up, so pretty easy jump for the old pooch.

    when it is my truck, he generally rides in the bed. But the farthest I will drive him is 5 (or if pressed a lot 10) minutes out to our land or the groomers for a shave. other than that, he rides in our yukon.

    I actually am in college so therefore I don't have a dog yet, but once I get a good job after college, I am going to get a black or chocolate lab, a big one. I love big dogs and can handle them, especially labs. My family has had 2 labs while I was growing up, and I want one of my own. I'll get one some day.

    out of curiosity, what breed is that?

    He looks like a silver lab, but i can't tell for sure, I spent a lot of time around silver labs a while back and they are awesome dogs and have a color you don't see very often (ps: if it is, what breeders did you get her from?)

    edit: the more I look, the more it looks like a weimaraner to me, but either way, beautiful dogs

    Haha yea he loves big dogs. At the dog park he'll play with any dog there. There was a St Bernard that's head was twice as big as Coop's entire body, but he didn't care.

    My little guy climbs all over me while I am driving, until her recently pissed on both my front seats. Now he rides in a kennel in the access cab and I am upgrading to leather.

    the main reason i bought a pick up was to transport my then dog, now dogs.
    living at the beach i just got sick of having dog stink, sand, and fur all over my cars.
    i put on a cap and they always ride happily back there.
    the 9 year old is starting to not appriciate the jump.
    Tan one is mine in the back of my 1st tundra

    Fran goes everywhere in the back of the truck, the longest trip has been about 2.5 hrs. As long as its not hot she is fine, once its above 75 she stays at home unless its a short trip. She is an outside only dog and i dont think it can get too cold for her. I did put a rubber mat down for her, she didnt like the slick ridges. I am also thinking of lowering the truck, she has a bad hip and picking up a 100lb dirty dog gets old. Here she is laying in the back of the truck.

    OK, so here is an update. My 90 lb golden has been riding in the back of my access cab for the last 30k miles in this fashion:

    [IMG]

    While this setup has worked great and he is very comfortable, it precluded having him int he back AND a third passenger when absolutely necessary. So, I modified this setup slightly yesterday this way:

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Now, 90% of the time, the panel will be flat and he will have the whole cab to himself but I have had a few instances when being able to move a third passenger a short distance with him in the cab or moving some luggage has been necessary. So hopefully this does the job.
