This is how I do it. No hair in the cab unless you open the rear window.

even a minor accident could mean death for your dog. i care more about my dogs than the seats of my car.

I got a hammock style seat cover, from my local Sam's Club. It protects the rear seat and the rear of the front seats, along with the rear door panels. Just throw it in the wash, or let it air out...

Been doing it that way for 30 years with multiple dogs. Seems to me that a collision sufficient to kill a dog in the bed is not minor! My dogs ride in the bed, sleep outside, eat dog food, hunt, alert me to snakes in the woods and have never had a bath! They are very happy being dogs!

My dog picked driver side rear. Window must be down rain, snow, or shine. However he is hypoallergenic so the hair is not the problem. Its the drool that covers the driver side rear door and door panel inside. He also figured out how to work the window switch so that thing is all the way down all the time.

There's always one. Why try to shame strangers on the truck forum? Unless that dog is strapped into a harness in the backseat, it's a projectile. Whether that projectile is in the cab with you, or in the bed, it's screwed either way..

My mini Aussie goes pretty much everywhere I go, and I run him up to the park up the street a few mornings a week. There's been days where I wanted to transport the furry little jackass in the bed, where his hair and mud can stay, but he's a good dog and stays put in the back seat, and he enjoys wearing his dog goggles out the window. Learned quickly that opening the sun roof creates a vortex of dog hair inside the truck. For now, I have a car seat cover purchased for 20 bucks from Costco. All I have to say is, you get what you pay for. The straps are jerry-rigged because they will not tighten, but overall it gets the job done. Glad someone posted this, now I have some suggestions for a better car seat cover. A good shop vac, leather-safe cleaner, and as much brushing as he'll let you do are a must.

I wouldn’t call that shaming, it’s just true… if your dog is in the truck bed during a collision it’s not going to be pretty.

I personally use a Ruffland intermediate sized kennel to get our Brittany Spaniel around. The crate fits perfectly behind the passenger seat with the rear bench folded down.

We have a little West Highland Terrier and transport him in one of those plastic kennel boxes. I strap the kennel in using the center rear seat belt. If we ever got into an accident, he is going to get bumped around a bit inside the box but hopefully the kennel box stays put.

Yep, crate is probably the best option. Sorry, the "I care about my dog than my interior" response, when no one asked, kinda triggered me.

There's a giant banner at some of our plants that say "The most dangerous phrase in the English language is '..but I've always done it this way.'"

Oh, and FYI, the inevitable dog in bed debate always shuts threads down here.

My Golden Retriever rides behind me on a dog platform similar to the picture in post #1.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/access-cab-dog-platform-udpate-pics.72761/

Mine is a non Pro platform because I don’t have the TOYOTA lettering on the carpet. On warm summer days I open all windows when going down the freeway and watch the clumps of hair fly out. I would hate to be behind me when my truck is shedding.

I honestly wouldn't buy the Wet Okoles again for over $600. They're too hard to take off and wash, they end up scratched and stained and a $60 back seat hammock probably offers more protection. Replace the hammock every 2 years. That's my 2 cents.

My dog just rides in the passenger seat with one of those leads that goes into the seatbelt; We've found that he does better on bench seats than in bucket seats...
