I throw a blanket over the back seat and the passenger seat. My 60 lb coonhound likes to stretch out on the back seat to sleep but she also likes to ride shotgun, especially if the weather is nice enough to put the window down a ways.
Been the same way for every car and truck and dog I've owned.

J/K honestly he has a place in the back seat I rig up with his bed. He doesn't like it and wants to be up front with me but I do not want him to go flying, fall out of the truck, get stuck in the steering wheel. He loves to look out the window, preferably my window but gotta keep him safe.
I like the idea of the post on the hammock, any pics would be appreciated.

mine rides in the back but always tied to the center of the tie down system right behind the cab..when he was a puppy he actually used to ride inside my 4runner and managed to jump out of the window luckily on a residential street and was not hurt but learned his lesson from the fall and the yelling and beating he got (i dont really beat him) now that i have an extra cab room is limited but he does ride inside on ocassions if he has had a bath recently. i also love my dog and trust me he is very spoiled but the bed is where he belongs he is also 95lbs and after a ride in the cab all i see is white hair everywhere truck 013.jpg

Border Collies are smart; their offroading abilities are exceptionally well rounded, and they make an excellent DD.

    Crickett usually rides shotgun.

Well, if you figure one calendar year is equal to seven dog years, she is over fifty!

    Ok i had to,
Layla's idea of driving is floor it till we get thru, she doesn't worry about damage. Thats why she's on suspension from off roading.

True, except for year 1 which is equal to one year. So a 2 year old dog is actually 8 in dog years, 3 year old dog is 15, etc.

Ludo is spoiled, I removed the rear seats and built a bench for him. He's been known to spend 4 hour car rides with his head out the rear window slobbering all over my tonneau cover.

    Yes.
I don't allow the dogs to ride in the bed. Our arrangement depends on if we have one person or two in the truck. I have seat belt harnesses for their safety and so they can't irritate me when I drive. (I can keep Harvey out of licking distance this way. Haha.) Elli prefers to ride shotgun and the boys ride in the back...

She rides exclusively in the back seat, but whenever we step out to a store or food place, she sneaks her way to the front.
